Support this per this. However, what do you mean with Improving the process, as we only need to upload the media once if we want to share it? That doesn't make sense to me. For the other points also see how videos on WMC are not even indexed by Web search engines for some reason even when searching for their exact title in their video tab. Currently, if I upload a video to Commons and I want to share it, let's say, on Facebook, I need to upload again to Facebook. If I upload the file to YouTube and I want to share it on Facebook I don't need to upload it again to Facebook, as the YouTube upload is the only thing I need in order to share it. As one can share links to media on WMC on facebook, I think it would be good if you made it clearer that without oembed the thumbnail of videos does not render and it's not embedded so the video can't be played. Prototyperspective (talk) 10:13, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

Question

When you are in a file and click on "Use this file" (next to the globe) and then copy the link in "File link" and add it in whatever website: then it should be possible to use the file embedded. Does that not work in Facebook (I am not a member of Facebook, so I don't know)? JopkeB (talk) 15:40, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
