Election vs. selection
[edit]Hello! This page includes:
...half of the seats are up for election every year.
The last elections took place at the end of 2023...
Presumably this is supposed to be "selection", which is used in the sentence before the first above quote and the sentence after the second. As far as I've been able to find, members of AffCom are not elected.

- @Vermont: The desire for democracy is strong in the Wikimedia community and the universal wish for positions of power and prestige - especially those which come with travel funding and other valuable compensation - is that they follow an open election process.
- It might have happened in the past that there has been AffCom selection as a practical matter, but the broader wish, expectation, and culture is that election is the norm and anything else is a less desirable deviation.
- I advocate for the community to continue asserting its right to decide these roles by election. Bluerasberry (talk) 20:25, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
