Removal of administrator permissions on en.wiki
With the fulfillment of bugzilla:18390, English Wikipedia bureaucrats now have the technical ability to remove administrator privileges and the authorization to do so in the specific situations outlined at w:Wikipedia:Bureaucrats#Removal of adminship.
The use of these procedures is not intended to constrain the authority of the Wikimedia Stewards to undertake emergency removal of permissions on their own discretion, or removal following a request from the Arbitration Committee, pursuant to the relevant policies governing Steward actions.
I've updated Bureaucrat#Removing access accordingly. Thank you, –xeno 14:39, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- “The use of these procedures is not intended to constrain the authority of the Wikimedia Stewards …” but was intended to constrain their authority in all other cases? Without having invited them to take part in this RfC? Where they could have explained e.g. why it is not very useful to aggregate power and give one body a set of dangerous rights (like that already happened with enwiki's ArbCom)? Or the reasons why it was useful that they did this job before? So thank you for your trust and cooperation … Kind regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:56, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- To my knowledge there's been no formal request from the en.wiki community asking stewards to decline to fulfill non-urgent requests, but one of the frequently cited rationales for granting the right to local bureaucrats was to move the record of removal into the local rights log - so it would not make much sense to process non-urgent requests in two different locations (example case). –xeno 13:17, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- Chill. Nobody's constraining you; you can continue as before. Seb az86556 14:52, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
