Requests for new languages/Wiktionary Prussian

Discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Votes will be ignored when judging the proposal. Please provide arguments or reasons and be prepared to defend them (see the Language proposal policy).
The language committee needs to verify the language is eligible to be approved. |
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons. |
Optional settings | ||

[edit]Creation of prussian wiktionary aims at popularising this revived language.--Aklbmd164 (talk) 21:34, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]Support (but since I'm part of making this, I dont count), this dictionary might just be able to become the best dictionary for Prussian in general; accounting for both spellings and having etymology as well. Is this too optimistic? Is this even a good argument or is this a misrepresentation of Wiktionary? Kxeon (talk) 20:45, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Post-post update, I just remembered that this does not work. Dead/revived languages aren't accepted. Oops.
- Hrm. Thinking it over, dead/revived languages should be allowed for Wiktionary, because of the sheer usefulness they would pose. But we would need to lobby for that. Besides. We tried that a few years back. It failed due to not getting a consensus. So... yeah let's just hope this didn't doom it. Kxeon (talk) 02:49, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- By checking [1], its language type was changed from Extinct to Living in 2009, so I don't see why this is still a problem. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 15:53, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
- Had a feeling the Language Committee might not see it that way. Guess I was too cautious. Kxeon (talk) 15:57, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

- Support. Prussian is a living language, according to Ethnologue. --Danvintius Bookix (talk) 11:32, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
