  • Notes/comments:
    • A language spoken in Basel, Switzerland, a very common dialect spoken in and around the city of Basel. Not intelligible to speakers of other German dialects.
    • The alemannic wikipedia may be a wikipedia for all alemannic dialects, but because Baseldytsch is very often spoken in Basel and has a own grammatic and orthography, a own wikipedia project for Baseldytsch would be useful. I'm a native speaker of Baseldytsch and could "translate" from German into Baseldytsch. -- CdaMVvWgS 7 Nov 2004
    • Why the domain bds: The lower-german Wikipedia (Niederdeutsch/Plattdüütsch) has nds.wikipedia.org as domain name. N-DS = Niederdeutsch; B-DS = Baseldytsch. Other possibility: bsd.wikipedia.org, because BS is the official abbr. of Basel, BS (Basel) + D (Deutsch/Dytsch/German) = BSD (Baseldytsch). Other domain names (like bs.als, or something like that) are too long and uncommon. I'd say one of these two proposals should be the definitive domain name. -- CdaMVvWgS 8 Nov 2004
    • I decided to take "bsd.wikipedia.org". I'm currently translating the interface (Locales_for_the_Wikimedia_projects). If anyone can put the Baseldytsch Wikipedia online under the domain "bsd.wikipedia.org", please do so. Thank you. -- CdaMVvWgS 15 Nov 2004
    • IMO this is not senseful, because you can write Baseldytsch at the als.wikipedia.org, its not forbitten there. de:Benutzer:Filzstift
      • Baseldytsch is like other swiss dialects extremely different from the "language" used on the Alemannic Wikipedia. Baseldytsch does not sound and we don't write it like that you can see on the Alemannic Wikipedia. I think the current style of the Alemannic Wikipedia won't last a long time. The Baseldytsch version is the third version of a german dialect wikipedia. See the Plattdüütsch and the Lëtzebuergesch Wikipedia... And please, don't think about a swiss-german wikipedia, the differences are extremely big, too big. -- CdaMVvWgS 17 Nov 2004
        • Setting up a Baseldytsch Wikipedia doesn't serve any purpose; it will only fracture those willing to write in Alemannic. True, Baseldytsch does have an orthographic and grammatical system which is more advanced and precise then the "Write the way you want to" approach of the other Alemannic dialects. But in fact this system is not only used in Basel; it has influenced other Alemannic writers as well. There are writers from Basel active on the Alemannic Wikipedia; and if they use a more standardized orthography than others, that can only benefit the others. Most of all, you’re trying to start a Wikipedia with the inhabitants of one city?! That’s ridiculous. There are roughly ten million Alemannic speakers and the Alemannic Wikipedia is still growing slowly (but it is growing). So if you don’t like the style of the Alemannic Wikipedia then please help us improve it rather than seceding from a project which needs every contributor.--Clemens 10:51, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
          • The Alemannic Wikipedia hardly has a future in this form. You cannot mix all alemannic dialects into one "language", and the only way to improve the Alemannic Wikipedia is to split it up in their native dialects to keep the correctness of their grammar and orthography. But the current mixture way is just a mess of all I repeat: There's already a low-saxon wikipedia, also a dialect, so why not a Baseldytsch one. And about the speakers number: There are wikipedias for languages with lower than 100 speakers (i.e. Volapük), that's really ridiculous! I will let the Baseldytsch put online and then we'll see what happen (if there's agreement or refusal). Give it at least a chance. -- CdaMVvWgS 15:39, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
            • IMHO that's a really narrow-minded idea. I don't think that the Basle Dialect is that special. Nearly every participant in als.wikipedia can understand it well. Worse is that this city is in the heart of the alemannic region. I propose just to enjoy the manifoldness of the alemannic world ! - Caeschfloh, 19.11.2004
              • Im am from Basel, and have just read about that "Baseldütsch-Wikipedia", and about the Allemanic Wikipedia. To be honest: I think that doesn't make much sense. I love my language (which is, no doubt, Baseldütsch), and I think that Baseldütsch, a dialect, is, for me, a way superior means to express myself than high german. BUT: ever since my first day at school, I have been taught to read in high german. In fact, reading a text in Baseldütsch (or Baseldytsch) takes me much longer than reading one in high german. Of course, that's because that's because I'm not used to it. But I think that's ok. Wikipedia is about information and knowledge, not about local patriotism. Nämeds mr nid übel, aber dodermit kann ich nit vil afoo. Un sälbscht wenn: dass jede schribt, wies em passt, machts nur komplizierter. Und: natürlig gits dr "Y-Standard", aber ich schrib nit "ybere", wenn ich "übere" sag....

  • Oppose Alemmanic dialects no more please. --Taichi - (あ!) 22:06, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

support if it takes him longer its obviously written differantly in a standard form which makes it sound like a regional language worth of inclusion to me.Qrc2006 01:16, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
