I already have some experience with the translation tool. I am a translation administrator at Wikidata, br.wikimedia and, mainly, at Wikisource in Portuguese (where I am most active in this area). So I would like to be able to occasionally re(mark) some translations on the Meta-Wiki as well. ━ Albertoleoncio Who, me? 15:16, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question Question: Thank you for volunteering. Can you explain what you did wrong/could've done better here? --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 15:21, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Minorax: A lot of things. The br.wikimedia is an affiliate wiki, so things are mostly done by the staff themselves. On that page, one of the employees who didn't have the flag asked to mark the page for translation and I, because of the "conjuncture", lazily marked the page.
On a normal wiki I wouldn't do this. For example: That part didn't need to be translated. It's just code and a list of names. This table should not be marked like this, as each cell should be translated separately. Links were not included in tvar tags. This template was broken in the process and so on. There are still other errors, but these examples are sufficient. ━ Albertoleoncio Who, me? 23:29, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same issues on this February-2024 edit. You seem to know segmentation rules, but you don’t apply them. We try, on Meta-Wiki to apply strict guidelines to make translation as easy as possible. Will you comply with these guidelines?

@Pols12: For this edition specifically, it did not seem necessary to do greater segmentation. I understand the need to segment texts: so that each snippet remains concise, more easily translatable and preventing minor changes from breaking all the multiple translations already made in the text. In the Portuguese Wikisource, source texts are not modifiable, and translations are blocked from being made other than Portuguese, so any other adjustments are just made on the fly with minimal impact. On meta-wiki pages, where each page is translated into dozens of other languages and each remark can result in the invalidation of several other translations already made downstream, I will be much more careful with such translations. ━ Albertoleoncio Who, me? 12:03, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What I meant with “segmentation” term was excluding formatting templates from translatable content (closing translate tag, or adding tvars). But I understand this is not especially useful for Portuguese Wikisource. Thank you for your answers. Support Support T-adminship too. -- Pols12 (talk) 13:39, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
