Inactivity check (April 2013)

Hello. I have started Meta:Administrators/Removal/April 2013 inactivity session. For starters 4 admins have lost their permissions automatically because they have failed to make at least 10 edits between 1 October 2012 and 1 April 2013: EdBever (talk · contribs), Finnrind (talk · contribs), Fr33kman (talk · contribs) and Ruy Pugliesi (talk · contribs). Thanks for your service all this time. There are 18 administrators with adminship under review because they've made more than 10 edits but less than 10 admin actions in the past 6 months; and have 1 week to indicate on this page that they want to retain their admininstrator permissions. Request

I tried to move a page in my userspace about WikiLang to main because there are other WikiLang pages in main, but I didn't know that the move was set in userspace, and I accidentally turned 1 into ! by adding 'shift'. So this is not vandalism, and please give me back my rights. (I copy-and-pasted back, because I have been barred from moving pages).--Seonookim (talk) 04:20, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Explanation: I tried to move a page to mainspace because I had finished developing it, but I accidentally sent it to userspace, so WikiLang/Example1 became User:WikiLang/Example!. So I tried to move it back, but the Abuse Filter thought I was vandalizing someone else's userpage (User:WikiLang does not exist, for additional information) and took away my autoconfirmed status, so I no longer can send it back. I have currently copied-and-pasted back, but give me back my autoconfirmed user status, because it is clearly a mistake. So now give me back my former rights, and please reform Abuse filter so it doesn't make these mistakes again.--Seonookim (talk) 10:23, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Problem user: repeated escalation

Dear Meta Administrators, this is the first time I'm addressing you as my attempts to resolve the issue by conversing with a user failed. A user here, named Tony1, raised an issue which I noted here and there that it does not need escalation to Meta and could be better resolved locally. However today Tony1 responded to none of my comments and added a new section over here, which has the exact same problem: apart from being an attack rather than a productive proposal to fix things, it should belong to that project's local village pump rather than here. I suspect that such repeated behaviour is disruptive and you may want to look into it. Cheers. Gryllida 05:25, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Tony1 seems to have painted Wikinews in a bad light here on Meta here, there. Then co-authoring an article about the above-mentioned, latest, Wikinews closure proposal at Wikipedia signpost, which in my view should have been duly rejected due to Meta community's lack of power to help even if there was a support of a need to. As a bit of background, in 2010 his discussed and rejected edits on Wikinews prompted questioning integration of Wikinews with Wikipedia here and there. Also blackmail (w/ an attempt to drive off to Signpost) and harassment Wikinewsies on Wikipedia. I don't think that such goals and means of achieving them are appropriate within Wikimedia websites, with some of activity of using Meta as a gateway for collecting the closure support voices shaped elsewhere, and dumping ground for all the critique that can be handled locally. You could also consider a Request for Comment, if you feel it rises to that level. I'm not advocating for that, to be clear, because I'm not totally aware of the situation, and I think it might set up a "tit for tat" situation, but it is an option. Philippe (WMF) (talk) 08:50, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Grylida, things seem to have calmed down. I can help. Feel free to direct any future concerns about the matter to me, I'll see if I can do anything. I'm also not sure what you were expecting above, I certainly don't think an RfC is the right option here either - It will just bring more opinions and make things more tense. The most local admins can do is ask Brian and Tony to avoid each other or ask to refrain from certain language or points that you think qualify as over-the-line or harassing. Regards. I'm not sure what either of you are requesting again, those comments aren't that over the line to do anything. The debate is about content on another project and conduct on another wiki. At this point, the best way to find closure is to disengage by either party. From what I recall, the closure discussion was over a while ago, responding and getting the last word in, is the reason this is getting this prolonged. I would request you again, to just disengage, as I would ask Tony. Mr. McNeil, I would also point out your repeated requests for apologies and the polemics against Signpost and ed, not to mention the tenor of your last comment on the page hardly puts you in any elevated position. Central Notice dismiss is broken

On Commons and en.wp, if I click the dismiss button top right, I still get taken to 2013_WMF_elections as well. This usually happens if the click handler of the dismiss button doesn't contain e.preventDefault() to cancel the bubbling of the action. It's somewhat annoying, so if it can be fixed, that would be nice. TheDJ (talk) 08:36, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Many of the banners are still using evil onclick="" attributes, from which return false; (which it did have) doesn't work since that only works when executed from within a function. I updated the banner to bind the event properly with an event listener and simply call e.stopPropagation (not e.preventDefault, though I added that as well to avoid jumping to #) to stop the event from bubbling to the parent element which has the click handler to change the location to 2013 WMF elections. –Krinkle^talk 11:33, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Display Title of Main Page in Spanish Wiktionary

Hello. I'm an administrator in the Spanish Wiktionary, but relatively new to Wikimedia in general. Now I'm in the process of re-designing its Main Page: es.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wikcionario:Portada and noticed we have an issue there:

• How can I prevent the Page Title itself (Wikcionario:Portada) from being displayed? I see that the Main Page for all other projects is automatically not displayed, why is ours?
• I know of this {{DISPLAYTITLE}} "magic word" , but I do not think it is relevant here...
