Import CSS from en
Template:Bot vs en:Template:Bot
Would an admin mind importing the relevant .css classes?

Confused!
I've come across a claim of sock puppetry - by one of the puppets! The claim is here and those involved appear to be User:Aeonimitz, User:Lokey3310 & User:Emrrans. Hardly looks very serious, might be worth CU, blocks? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 17:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yes, looks like a case for CU. They should of course NOT be blocked before it is certain that they are really from the same person. --Thogo (talk) 17:57, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Let's just treat it as a straightforward CU request, if someone would be so kind as to do the scutwork of formatting the request on the RFCU page, so it gets archived, some CU will look at it. Myself if no one beats me to it. ++Lar: t/c 18:19, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Done. :o) --Thogo (talk) 18:23, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- I meant formatting the request properly :) I'm on it. ++Lar: t/c 18:31, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, sorry, I forgot the template... (I hate these templates...) --Thogo (talk) 18:33, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- They can be a pain but they REALLY help a lot, making it easy to check a lot of things with a click, and keep the list of users nicely organised. Results posted. Negative relation. I think user Emmrans is trying to smear the other users and he should get half his request (block him) but not the other half (don't block the other users). ++Lar: t/c 18:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- done. (Please block me for a minute or so if I forget the template again. ;o) ) --Thogo (talk) 18:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Naah... I'm too lazy. :) Oh, here's the request with the results: Requests_for_CheckUser_information/Archives/2007/01#Emrrans_.40_meta ++Lar: t/c 18:56, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Edit protected page
Could an admin make some minor edits to the protected text at the top of Wikimedia site feedback. Specifically:
- "Wikimedia volunteers emailed at" -> "Wikimedia volunteers can be emailed at"
- "Inquiries about a paticular Wikimedia project, like a comment about English Wikipedia is expected to go directly to that wiki." -> "Inquiries about a particular Wikimedia project, like a comment about English Wikipedia, are expected to go directly to that wiki."
Thanks, the wub "?!" 08:21, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Inclusion policy and Election
meta:Inclusion policy says:
Content more appropriate on another wiki project: encyclopedic information, published texts, user-created books, images, dictionary definitions, famous quotations, and general news.
However, I personally (as a normal editor) would ask you meta admin NOT TO SPEEDY DELETE images submitted by users during the early phase of Election? Precisely 2 weeks from the beginning of candidate acceptance till its closure (both dates are given very soon). I know the argument those images are better to go to Commons and personally preferred, but regarding the history 1) some past candidates decided to put them onto meta, not commons for several reasons 2) recently those (past) election materials were listed on VfD and speedied before the regular two week period finish, I think it would be better for me explicitly ask you fellow editors to remind the above. I would add "unless it is clearly irrelevant", but the reason 2 makes me very hesitate to amend. So I'd rather ask to close your eyes during these weeks (or recommend to list them on VfD, if you think necessary). Board Election is with inter-wiki coordination and meta community is I expect willing to help it out flexibly, not force them to obey existing policies. Historically not every candidates were meta regulars and it may occur they are not familiar with meta policy. Please be careful to delete user images and do a favor to candidates building their platforms, not deleted them simply just it isn't properly tagged or seems not to be used anywhere at that moment. Thank you for your consideration. --Aphaia 15:35, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Images intended for use on Meta are fine, and should not be deleted under the inclusion policy. Obviously, "images" will need to be qualified. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 00:04:35, 08 June 2007 (UTC)
Username swap
So, I'm registered as Luna Santin on quite a large number of WMF wikis, including as an active administrator on en.wikipedia, and occassional contributions to en.wikiquote, en.wikinews, de.wikipedia, and commons, along with occassional template help on a variety of projects. A full laundry list of my accounts would waste quite a bit of page space, but you can rest assured that I will almost undoubtedly usurp this name on every wiki, when SUL is implemented. Unfortunately, here on meta, a vandal registered the account before I did, see Luna Santin (talk · contribs · CA). I'm not sure if meta has a usurpation process, but I was wondering if I might be able to take control of the account name which seems to rightfully be my own? Luna-San 23:46, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Username change
Hi, I recently registered my current username. I'd like to usurp the name George here on meta, as it doesn't appear to have ever been used here, and in order to match my username on the English Wikipedia and Wikinews sites. P.S. I'd also like to do the same on Wikimedia Commons, but I'm not sure where to request that. Any ideas? George.Saliba 10:25, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Username change
Hello. I have the name Sean William on several WMF sites, including the two where I am a sysop, and would like the name here. If a bureaucrat would be so kind as to rename me, that would be very nice. Thanks, Sean William 22:23, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

For comments please - local username blacklist?
In the course of dealing with a spate of vandalism elsewhere I was pointed to this as a way of preventing user names being created. I noticed that some Wikis I'm on have it and some don't. This one doesn't. To get a basic level of protection from - for example - offensive user names seems sensible? Anyone with views? Thanks --Herby talk thyme 07:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Which wikis that you're on have it? The new user log is so slow here I'm not sure it's worth it. Majorly (talk) 08:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Up to a point I certainly agree. Here is one which has the "basics" in. However given accounts created elsewhere recently (for example a vandal account including "Bastique") I was wondering if it would be prudent to add some steward names too (if they agree and it didn't prevent a wide range of possible names). I'm hoping to catch Cary today and see what he feels about having it added to the ones I can do. Another example might be Kazoo - derivations of this have been used on 5 wikis from what I can see - I would however see an argument that we will merely get another name crop up. By way of background 10+ vandal accounts were created on en wikiquote in about 15 minutes mostly with a blocked username in. Had I known it existed I could have at least blocked that aspect. Another point would be that if it were up & running here then any similar even could at least be mitigated on here? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 08:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- OK seems useful - although I'd really recommend stewards register themselves on as many projects as they can. Majorly (talk) 09:20, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Started here as it seems to be a bit of a "no brainer" (of course if anyone disagrees!?). Just the obvious warning that it is a regexp file so add to with care --Herby talk thyme 15:54, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

- JFYI: The German WP makes use of the local username blacklist. It doesn't have much effect, but AFAICS the spam accounts are much less insulting as they were before. So it _has_ a positive effect. But anyway, I don't think that a "smaller" project as Meta needs it. Grtx, --Thogo (talk) 17:33, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
