Dellie: Meta bot

I would like to ask the Meta community to take a look at my bot proposal, and give any comments or suggestions that they may have. Special:Nuke on Test.WP

Username change

I am trying to unify my logins across projects. I would like the name User:N here to match my username of en:User:N on the english wikipedia. There is a note on my English user page confirming my identity. Sadly, the name here was used to create a throwaway account. If at all possible I would like to usurp this name. I would like to participate in the board voting using my standard home wiki username. Nardman1 14:24, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

This username is currently taken. The log shows that it was registered on May 24, and edited twice on that day only. Since both edits were to redirect the account's user page and talk page to another user's, namely Nolanus, I am assuming he was the one to register the account, although I'm not sure what the goal was. It would be necessary for you to contact him, let him know that you would like to take over the username. We'll see what he has to say and take it from there. I use N as abbreviation for Nolanus sometimes but I awow, I dont need it here necessary in this time, you can have it /I think it better that I send you password and you change it/ but would be but I would like to keep the name on cs.wiki and de.wiki.

Ok then. With the permission of the current owner, the usurpation is Done. I renamed the previous N to N (usurped), but if Nolanus would like a different name, please contact me so that we can look into it. Normally, when there is such a task in need of doing in any given project, we grant temporary sysop status to a volunteering member of the project concerned, who will then tend to the translation of the interface (which entails editing the respective MediaWiki pages). A request needs to be posted at the RfP forum, so that a Steward can consider it and, if it is the case, grant the status. There is nothing that a Meta sysop or Bureaucrat can do about it, because we don't have a similar status on the ti.wiki. Cheers, Redux 18:12, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Request related to an identity theft

I am admin of fr:Wikipedia. I had my account there renamed in June 2006 from "Alex_lbh" to "Bradypus" then to my current fr:Wp account, "fr:Utilisateur:Bradipus". The reason for the double change is that I discovered afterwards that there was a "Bradypus" with a "y" in the german WP, and in preparation of the future "single user login", I decided to quickly change to "Bradipus" with an "i".

The name change on fr:WP happened on June 23, 2006 at 11.30 pm. Then, overnight, somebody made several attempt to steal the identity on various projects:

• he first tried to steal the "Bradypus" identity on fr: (that account was renamed by a bureaucrat then I could recreate the account myself]
• then he quickly registered under "Bradipus" identity on other projects such as
  • French Wiktionary, where the problem was immediately solved by deleting the account and me recreating the account (French Wiktionary is still a rather small project and I happened to know very well the person who had the tools for this);
  • English WP, where the problem was solved as well a bit later;
  • french Wikisource, somewhere on June 24. Upon my request, that account was renamed into "X" by a wikisource bureaucrat, and I could recreate the account myself
  • Commons, account created on June 24, renamed into "unused username" by a bureaucrat on July 1 so I could recreate the account.
  • spanish WP, created at 12:13 on 24 June 2006, no contribution;
  • italian WP, created at 14:20 on 24 June 2006, no contribution;
  • Wikimedia, created at 13:21 o:n 24 June 2006, no contribution;
  • and so on...

Bottomline: the problem was solved for the french WP, english WP, the french Wiktionnaire, french Wikisource, and Commons, i.e. all the projects where I contribute the most.

Now for meta.

It has been more than a year now, and I really would like some of this to be sorted out, as the SUL doesn't seem to be as close as it seemed to be.

The only apparent issue in meta is that the "Bradipus" account has some edits. On the other hand, one notice:

• all the edit were made on the same day, and nothing happened since then,
• User:Bradipus says his mother language is Italian...but as showed above, the "Bradipus" account on the italian WP has no edits, what seems to mean that the few edits were done to create the appearance of an active account.

Can something be done along the line of what was done on the other wiki's, despite the edits, i.e. rename the account into something else and rename User:Alex lbh into User:Bradipus? Thanks. Bradipus 11:11, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
