Hello, I would like to request a bot flag for the user wcdo-bot. I have just registered to upload graphs and introduce tables into pages generated for the project Wikipedia Cultural Diversity Observatory. Initially, I was considering creating an external website but after consulting with several language communities leaders, I think it is best to centralize all the data generated from this project into few specific meta pages. I need to update tables and substitute images in an automated process that takes place on a weekly basis. Using a bot is essential - and so is using pywikibot as a library in order to do these tasks. However, I was wondering if the bot I am proposing would need also a flag in Wikimedia Commons, as the images will be uploaded there. If you need any further information or clarification, just ask. I'll be happy to answer. Thank you very much. --Marcmiquel (talk) 19:01, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • With such a low volume, why do you want a bot flag? Please include in your reply you explanation as to the impact to recent changes/watch lists that you expect, how you will present your edits to achieve this, and why this account flagging is necessary. — xaosflux Talk 19:42, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am sorry not to reply earlier, I did not notice. I am so focused coding that I have completely forgot. Actually, the need is not exactly right now: the project is still at a data phase. I made the petition to move forward and prepare the field in advance, but perhaps it was a little too early. I estimate that the bot might create/update around 300-1000 tables to update and substitute a 1000 images in commons every week or two weeks. I do not know if this is a high volume or not, but it certainly cannot be done manually. At the same time I am considering to balance the content between meta and some specific Wikiprojects in each Wikipedia - this might imply a global bot (that also connects to commons). If this is no inconvenient, I will get back to this message when I can present a definitive solution. --Marcmiquel (talk) 08:53, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now. I have spoken to my fellow bureaucrats about this one and we think it's time to close for now, given that this has been sitting since April without any action taken. The operator says the bot is still not ready. So let's close this for now, without prejudice that when the bot is ready to run, Marcmiquel can certainly open a new request. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:11, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
