I would like to request a bot flag for my bot as I will be using it for WMGMC housekeeping. According to a descion of the WMGMC Council, we will use a bot to handle the entrancen check request and send mass message tasks to avoid privacy leak. The bot will automatically fetch the information on this page, process it and post it to a Telegram group of Council members, and once the group members have made a decision, the bot will perform the relevant task (for approved applications, this will be to automatically delete the corresponding application information and send an email to the corresponding user with the message that the application has been approved and provided with WMGMC Telegram group joining connection).

In addition, the bot may also need IPBE right (due to the fact that the server running the bot has been blocked) and MMS right (which is needed to have done a mass messaging).

Thanks for your time.

By "delete" you just mean edit and remove, not actually perform a delete operation, correct? No part of this description says why a MMS would be used. What are the details of that task? — xaosflux Talk 04:21, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it just edit and remove not actually perform a delete operation. MMS permissions are intended to be used to send user group messages to registered users (e.g. constitutional changes and internal RFC), a task that was originally to be performed by User:BureibuNeko, but which he has in fact semi-retired from since the beginning of the year. I would like to use a bot to do this. (I know it's possible to just use bots to do mass messaging, but then I'd need to apply for Chinese Wikipedia bot permissions, which is a bit of a hassle.) Thanks for your time to read these word. Iming (talk) 04:34, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so potential future MMS use is distinct from the other process. Please provide an example of your MMS target list. — xaosflux Talk 11:13, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As far as automation, it seems this bot will only edit this one single page than, correct? That is something that may be allowed which does not require a bot flag as the volume is low and changes to the page may actually be useful to be included on watchlists, etc. — xaosflux Talk 11:13, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Yes, the bot will only edit this page, so please let me withdraw my application. Also, I think mass messages sending maybe should still be done manually by me, can I just request MMS access from you? The target list is here, which is formed based on the usergroup membership list and adds other users who have volunteered to receive messages. Thanks. Iming (talk) 11:35, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And can you grant this bot an IPBE right? Since the server running the bot was locked in Wikimedia for no open proxy policy. Thank you. Iming (talk) 11:48, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
