Flagged; given the relative uncontroversial nature of this and the intelligence of the botop [:)], seems to have been enough notice. 22:17, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to request bot flag to this account wich will be used to do some tedious maintenance tasks such as susbt:'ing templates, template replacement, category and image replacement... (I did some "test" edits). The bot uses AWB so I can review "in live" how the bot is running and stop & revert if some mistake is done. Thank you. —Dferg (meta-w:es:) 15:33, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Is there a list of templates you plan to subst: listed anywhere? It should be published for a period of 24-48 hours to allow people to glance over it to make sure Meta doesnt want any of the templates non-substed. Daniel (talk) 01:22, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello Daniel. The bot can substitute any kind of template, I had thought about starting with the "user warning templates and block templates" such as {{sb}}; {{test}} (1,2,3,4), {{welcome}} ,{{sockpuppet}} ,{{Banned}} ... wich must be substed always (as the /doc said). The bot can also replace and remove categories and templates. In fact, the warning templates were changed and all "non substed" templates aren't working fine, see these example. Thank you. —Dferg (meta-w:es:) 11:26, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- That would be my fault. I thought I had cleaned up un-substituted ones before making breaking changes, but I forgot to do so. As I recall, I got distracted by a spammer... :( But yes those templates should be substed, and I'm happy to let Dferg do it. He's a smart guy - I think he can decide with some confidence what should be substed and what shouldn't be. I don't see any need to "publish" a list of templates he'll be working on. That's a bit silly, IMO. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 14:43, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Fair enough, per Mike, bot flag granted. Give us a yell when the task is done and, if you don't have any other bot-related tasks, it can be removed until the next task. Daniel (talk) 22:14, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Agree, no need to 'publish' a list. Template subst'ing should be fine, though just giving free license to 'do some ... maintenance tasks' is a little broad in scope. xaosflux Talk 03:09, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Note, added after 'closing' due to closing tags not showing on transcluded copy of this page. xaosflux Talk 03:12, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
