Questions about proposal

[edit]

Hi MarkAHershberger,

Thanks for submitting this proposal. Based on your history of involvement in the movement, you are an excellent candidate to serve as a Wikimedia ambassador to this event. We'd be glad to help finance your travel expenses to participate. However, before we confirm a grant award, can you please provide the following information:

  • Has your talk been accepted?
  • Can you briefly elaborate on the impact you expect will occur as a result of growth of the stakeholders group and of better integration of third party wikis with core Wikimedia properties? Since this is public grantmaking process, please consider your answer in terms of an audience who may know little about the stakeholders group or how integration among wikis works.

Thanks!

Hi MarkAHershberger,

We're happy to support your participation in this event. We agree that the Semantic MediaWiki community "has a lot of depth into academic and commercial use of MediaWiki, but these areas do not have a lot of integration into the larger MediaWiki/WMF ecosystem" and we're glad that you're working to involve them more in ongoing MediaWiki development, thereby improving the MediaWiki platform for Wikimedia.

Please review the next steps for your grant as described in "How the program works". Note that your post-event report must provide a link to an outcome from your participation. We recommend that you start planning your outcome now so you are prepared to submit it as part of your report, which is due 14 days after the event.

Note that an outcome does not include the materials you prepare to present at the event (though we’d like you to link to those, too), but something that is created during or after the event because of your participation, such as a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, a blog post you wrote to share your experience with others after the event, or a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event. If you choose to make a learning pattern, think creatively about what you learned. Your learning pattern could focus on a strategy you recommend for engaging this specific audience in our projects.

Our Grants Administrator will be in touch with you about your grant. Thank you for work on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Warm regards, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 23:14, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
