Proposed participation

As one of the founding members of MediaWiki Stakeholders user group, I am actively promoting it. The Semantic MediaWiki community has a lot of depth into academic and commercial use of MediaWiki, but these areas do not have a lot of integration into the larger MediaWiki/WMF ecosystem. I'm working to involve them more in ongoing MediaWiki development which naturally creates a better MediaWiki platform for Wikimedia.

Goal and expected impact

As a result of the Stakeholders discussion and my presentation on using git to synchronize parts of a MediaWiki site, I expect the stakeholders group to grow and that there will be better integration of third party wikis with core Wikimedia properties.

• Talk accepted: see "Contributing code to (Semantic) MediaWiki by using a wiki for code editing" which is an application of using MediaWiki as a git remote.
• I will also moderate a MediaWiki Stakeholders meeting to introduce new people to the group.
• The MediaWiki Stakeholders is a user group for users of MediaWiki (the software that runs Wikimedia sites) outside of Wikimedia.
