[edit]Congratulations! This grant is approved in the amount of 110,413.11 USD, for 15 months with a start date of 1 October 2020 and an end date of 31 December 2021. We appreciate all of the work dedicated to organizational development and effective programming done in 2019/2020 and look forward to the coming year. The amount will be distributed in two installments. We also are approving a reallocation of 9,341.31 USD from your 2019-2020 grant to cover a 10% contingency.
This next year will focus on continued support for regional and thematic work on GLAM, education, advocacy and developer support. OFWA has a strong history of supporting content campaigns throughout the region as well as support for new and developing communities across Africa. While support for new communities will be limited this coming year, they are excited to be working with a new Wikimedia community in Liberia. Several GLAM partnerships are taking fruit, including with the National Film Authority and Ghana Museum, which will focus on digitization projects. OFWA's strength lies in creating opportunities for connection and Wikimedia engagement throughout Ghana with the establishment and support of regional hubs and clubs. We hope despite the challenges of COVID, the group will be able to continue to engage your large community of volunteers. We are especially interested in learning more about OFWA's rewards and recognition program for exceptional contributors and the coaching system as they could serve as a model for other communities across the movement.
Targets for 2021 are conservative compared to what was achieved pre-pandemic last year as we are in uncertain times. OFWA has planned for at least five more months of limited to no in-person events, with a ramping up of activities in the remaining 10 months of their grant period.
We are inspired by the work you have done and hope to do in the coming year and look forward to supporting OFWA in 2020/2021.
