Cancellation of the WLA Grant

Dear Grant Team,

We are very sorry to announce that unfortunately due to several reasons the group was not able to organize this photo contest in the best conditions as expected.

From one side the feedback received and noticed (through the uploaded photos) is that the community didn't understand the theme very well and was focusing more on the health side of the contest which made it very difficult for them to take photos in relation to this subject (photos in hospitals, health staff ...).

On another side, the board members and the volunteers of the group (all the group members are volunteers and we don't have any paid staff) went through difficult times recently and were not able to find enough time to organize this edition in the best conditions. During the last month a pick in Covid cases was registered in Tunisia and some of their parents were infected but thank god they are well now.

Based on the above we will be grateful if it's possible to cancel the grant for this event and keep it for further activities. We confirm that nothing has been spent and the whole amount is still in our fiscal sponsor's Bank account.

@Yamen: Thanks for letting us know about these circumstances in your organization. I am very sorry to hear that your volunteers and board members encountered some difficulties and were impacted by the pandemic. It's very understandable why the event could not be planned or executed in an ideal way in these conditions, so I just want to reassure you that what you have reported is unproblematic and that we want to support you to use the funds when you are able. (For future reference, it is also OK if the event is not very successful for these sorts of reasons and some / all funds get used. These are conditions that are difficult to predict and not within anyone's control.) We proceed to cancel the current grant, so I will mark the proposal as "withdrawn". As for the remaining funds, when you submit your next grant proposal, we can simply approve these funds for reuse for that project after we review it.
