Hi fjmustak and عباد ديرانية. Thank you for this proposal and organizing WLM in your region! It looks this was the first year the WLM contest was run in Jordan, Palestine, and Syria. Unfortunately, due to US government restrictions we cannot fund any projects in Syria, but we will be able to fund prizes for Jordan and Palestine. We have a few questions on the rest of the application:

  1. Since the contest is over and you know the results, please update your metrics. It looks like there were 624 photos from Jordan (with 4 currently used in articles) and 149 from Palestine (with 9 currently used in articles). A 20% rate of photos used in articles is a great target and one we encourage you to set. You may want to have an additional prize for best monument article or most number of photos used, to encourage people to actually use the photos.
  2. Were the prizes already announced? Typically prizes are used as a motivation for participation. In future, it's best to secure funding and announce prizes before the contest so you can encourage more people to participate.
  3. If you plan to organize WLM in future, it is a good idea to start tracking now what monuments have been covered and which are missing. Future contests can focus on covering missing monuments or organizing activities to cover monuments that are harder to get to.

Please adjust the proposal/budget based on the feedback above and we can move forward with approval. Thanks, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 22:47, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Alex for your quick response and comments. We were late in submitting the application beyond the initial announcement of the competition. Results have not been announced yet. I like the idea of prize for using photos within articles... As for Syria, we will try to find alternative source(s) of funding until we figure out how to proceed with our activities there. Thanks for the great suggestions on how to organize future contests, I appreciate the input, and will definitely work on including that in the coming years. I'll update the request. --Fjmustak (talk) 06:37, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
