[edit]Hello Bridges2Information, thank you for your submission. We have approved your grant request. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 22:01, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
Thank you WJifar (WMF)! We are doing a happy dance over here! Bridges2Information (talk) 22:11, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
Due to the rapidly developing news about COVID-19 and state of emergency in Oregon, we've decided to postpone the in-person editathon that was supposed to take place this Friday, March 13, in an effort to encourage "social distancing". We will host the editathon remotely, and plan to postpone the actual in-person event until early summer (June, 2020). Bridges2Information (talk) 19:26, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Bridges2Information, thank you for the update. I'm glad to see you're taking care of yourself and doing what's best for your community. I'm including my colleague I JethroBT (WMF), who is now managing the Rapid Grants program so he's also aware of the situation. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 20:41, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Bridges2Information: Appreciate the update, and I will update the end date of your grant accordingly to June 30th given the schedule for the in-person event. A final report will therefore be due on July 30th. We'll be sending some information over e-mail soon to all grantees concerning events and scheduling with respect to COVID-19. Thanks very much for tracking the rapidly-developing news around COVID-19 and adjusting your event accordingly. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 22:11, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
Request
[edit]We have not expended all of our grant funds to date. As a reminder, we held one editathon in February 2020, but then had to cancel the second editathon due to COVID. We routinely do our "Pacific Northwest African American editathon" in February, and would like to do the same this year. We may do a second editathon in March. We are hoping to extend the expenditure of the funds to April 1. And, also consider how to expend the funds in a virtual environment because refreshments will not be possible in a virtual environment. Please advise. Bridges2Information (talk) 21:14, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Bridges2Information, thanks for posting your request. I have reviewed and approved it which means that the new grant end date is now April 1, 2021 with the reporting due date on May 1, 2021. The refreshment budget can be reallocated to other expenses, such as:
- Payment for participants' Internet costs
- Payment for online services (e.g. Zoom)
- Provide additional appreciation tokens to participants
- Extend promotional budget and activities
- Design promotional materials
- Please feel free to use the refreshment budget to other eligible expenses not listed here. Once you make a decision, please post a detailed summary on the discussion page, so that I can review and approve it as well. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:24, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Hello DSaroyan (WMF), we have $307 left to expend from last year's budget. We are planning two editathons - "Writing (PNW) Black History into Wikipedia" in February and "Women Scientists" in March. We'd like to offer three books as top prizes for the top editors of each editathon (delivered via mail only to participants in the US or Canada). We will order all the books from an independent owned bookstore. For the first editathon the book, "A Black Women's History of the United States" at $27.95 each. And "10 Women in Science who changed the world." $26.99 each. We are currently working with a student graphic designer to create promotional materials (no cost) and would like to spend the remaining funds on stickers from Sticker Mule that are customized and say "Oregon State University Wikipedia Editathon" (or something along those lines) to be distributed this year and next for participants who are able to come to the library and retrieve the sticker. I haven't heard back, so pinging I JethroBT (WMF). Bridges2Information (talk) 19:33, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Bridges2Information: Apologies for the delay in our response. Thanks for this update and for your request to use your remaining funds to support thematic work supporting Black history and women scientists in March. This reallocation of your grant is formally approved for these additional events. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:54, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
FINAL REPORT
[edit]- Hi WJifar (WMF), We expended the last of the funds before April 1, 2021. We are in the middle of the term at our university, but I will submit a final report within two weeks, before June 4. Thank you! 50.82.110.37 17:15, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
