Hi Mognissan. Thank you for this request and your dedication to increasing coverage of Côte d'Ivoire cities on the Wikimedia projects! We have a number of questions before we can move forward with the proposal.

  1. We don't typically fund 1-2 people to do photo walks without broader community involvement in the project. We like to see that there has been an effort to understand if this content is of interest to the community and that they will actually use the photos to develop articles after the photo walk is over. Often times groups will organize an editathon or contest in parallel to a photowalk in order to encourage community members to use the photos.
  2. It would be great to have a list of places/articles you would like to cover in the three cities. This can be developed on a project page.
  3. Please let us know who the other participant is in the project. It is clear that you have experience editing WikiVoyage and Wikipedia, but it is important to have a photographer who is experienced in documenting heritage sites in order to get high quality photos.

Let us know if you have any questions about the above. Best, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 17:39, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Alex Wang (WMF).
  1. The photos will also be uploaded by active members of the community community on a voluntary basis but if that is not enough, what is the smallest number of people needed?
  2. See grant project.
  3. Aristidek5maya is a professional photographer, also a Wikimedian volunteer who contributes regularly to Wikipedia projects :https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions##/Aristidek5maya;https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiloves/africa/2017/C%C3%B4te_d'Ivoire/users;https//quarry.wmflabs.org/query/23906. Not Funded

[edit]

Hello Mognissan, thank you for your response to my colleagues questions. Unfortunately, we are unable to fund this grant request for the following reasons.

  1. You have stated that this request will only have two participants. When we're funding proposals we're looking for projects that foster conditions for editor recruitment. It's not a matter of how many people should participate at a minimum but rather the focus and purpose of the project.
  2. You have added articles that you hope to improve. I see a list of 10 or so links you've provided; however, in your number of photos you're hoping to upload and utilize on wikimedia projects you've specified 500 and 260 respectively. These two aspects of your project don't correlate with each other. The number of uploads and photos used is much higher than the articles improved can accommodate.

I hope you understand the reasoning for not funding your proposal and I look forward to working with you on a different project in the future. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 08:04, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
