Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Ambrosia10/NDF2021 Conference
Add topicNational Digital Forum Attendance going virtual
[edit]Hello @Ambrosia10, thank you for reaching out via email. We are also providing an update of the conversation here for documentation purposes.
As shared, we are happy to support your proposal to pass on the additional 2 individual virtual registration for the conference and hope it will be a meaningful learning journey.
"As I notified previously, as a result of the Delta COVID outbreak in New Zealand last year, this conference was delayed until 22 - 23 February 2022. However I was informed last week that as a result of the current Omicron COVID outbreak and the “red traffic light” setting for such gatherings in New Zealand, the NDF conference will now be held virtually instead of as an “in person" event.
As a result of the price of virtual tickets being significantly lower than the physical attendance tickets, the NDF conference organisers have reached out to me and given me two options. Either I can accept a refund of the difference (which of course I would refund back to yourselves), or alternatively they have offered to provide me with an additional 2 individual virtual registrations for the conference.
I was wondering whether I could pass on two individual registrations to two other New Zealand wiki editors. I would be very keen to pass on registrations to Lisa Maule (user:Pakoire), who is currently the project coordinator and coach for the Pacific Arts Aotearoa Wikipedia in Residence programme funded by Creative New Zealand, (as part of their Pacific Arts Strategy) and to Kasi Valu (user:Friagatewayfinder), one of the Wikipedians in residence contributing to that project.
Lisa and Kasi are keen to attend the conference and I am extremely keen to facilitate this. I see this as a great opportunity to introduce both Lisa and Kasi to the wider New Zealand Galleries Libraries Archives and Museum (GLAM) community as well as expose that GLAM community to the important work being done by both Lisa and Kasi in improving coverage of Pacifica art and artists in Wikipedia, WikiCommons and Wikidata. This has the potential to encourage New Zealand GLAMs to participate in and support this important effort to improve coverage of underrepresented communities in multiple Wiki projects."
