Fully supporting this initiative to document West Java’s cultural heritage, including Cirebon’s unique identity. With limited online records, this project will greatly contribute by enriching Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata, ensuring broader public access to valuable cultural knowledge. Looking forward to its positive impact. --Sofi Solihah (talk) 08:39, 9 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations on the successful implementation of your previous project. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Rapid_Fund/WikiCagarBudaya_(ID:_22588835)/Final_Report. Sharing the link here as well for easy reference.

1a) As this is a continuation of your previous project with a new geographical coverage, are there key learnings from the last project that you plan to apply to this project?

1b) How has your project contributed to building a more active and thriving community? Are there examples or stories that you can share to demonstrate that this project has a wider community impact beyond the core project team (i.e. Mirani Pramitasari, Pijri Paijar, Lany Pirna)? JChen (WMF) (talk) 06:05, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @JChen (WMF)
Thank you for your questions. let us answer your questions.
1a) At the previous project, we had no difficulty in terms of finding cultural heritage sites in the Bandung City because this place is where we live. Our problem is that there are some lists of cultural heritage sites in Sumedang Regency which have points on Google Maps, but after we visiting the address, any place are incorrect. Event though we got wrong information, we were accompanied by local residents to explore several places we were going to. Besides that, there are several cultural heritage sites that don’t have any location points on Google Maps, we feel confused but also challenged and we tried hard to find several cultural heritage sites. Thus, there are some cultural heritages that we found, but there are also some places that we didn't find.
In the current project, we will go to Cimahi City, Cirebon City, and Purwakarta Regency. At the Cimahi and Cirebon city areas, we know several people there who will help us if we get lost. What will be a challenge is when we visit Purwakarta Regency because we don't have ome peers at the area who will give us directions when we get lost. However, we already have a list of cultural heritage sites in Purwakarta Regency through the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and we have also searched for the points on Google Maps so we hope our trip will not be in vain.
Another important lesson that we learned from the previous project was that we realized how important it is to involve the community to increase their active participation. In general, the editing activities usually carried out by the Bandung Wikimedia Community are editing on Wikipedia and Sundanese Wiktionary. However, with the photowalk activity on the previous project which participants contribute to Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata, we noticed there were some people who seemed to be new to our community activities. This is very important for the sustainability of our community.
1b) As we have mentioned in the paragraph above that we have held photowalk activities on previous projects. This activity not only provides new insights about cultural heritage in Bandung for new participants, but also encourages them to be actively involved in community activities. For example, there are participants who initially only participated in photowalk activities, but now they are more active in community activities, such as editing together or monthly community meeting activities. The impact can be seen from the increasing number of individuals who are interested in getting more involved in various Wikimedia Bandung community activities.
Therefore, through this project, we intend to reach local communities in Cirebon City or Purwakarta Regency by holding WikiLatih (Wiki Training) activities. Through this training, community members will be trained to create articles, especially on regional language Wikipedia (Sundanese Wikipedia), with the theme of cultural heritage in Cirebon City or Purwakarta Regency. After the activity ends, we will invite them to join the Wikimedia Bandung Community. Our hope is that by inviting them to join the community, they will continue to be active in editing Wikipedia in general and other Wikimedia projects. Additional suggestion from Wikimedia Indonesia

[edit]

Hello @Mirani Pramitasari,

We have a suggestion to also include addition of articles on Indonesian Wikipedia in addition to Sudanese Wikipedia to increase the accessibility and visibility of your contributions.

We will be returning the application to you on Fluxx. Please make the necessary adjustments to the metrics table and re-submit the application so that we can move the application through the review process.

Thank you.

Regards, Jacqueline JChen (WMF) (talk) 03:50, 26 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @JChen (WMF)
We agree with the suggestion from Wikimedia Indonesia and we have updated the metrics via Fluxx. As an additional information, we also plan to use the GLAMorous tool to check how many photos we have uploaded will be linked on Wikipedia because we will be holding a collaborative editing activity on Wikipedia (edit-a-thon and Wiki Training). Tkank you. Regards,
Mirani Pramitasari (talk) 07:41, 26 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
