Follow-up questions on your application

[edit]

Hello @Wadaihangit,

Thank you for your application. Your application is being reviewed by the ESEAP Regional Funds Committee and Programme Officer, with inputs from Wikimedia Indonesia. Here are some questions that we require more information.

Thank you for taking a moment to respond.

Regards, Jacqueline

1) Related to question 9, could you elaborate more on how you are engaging with the local communities and are there best practices that you reference when working with indigenous communities? From your previous project, were there learnings that you gained from that experience that you would apply to this project?

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Rapid_Fund/Wiki_Balalah_(ID:_22680228)/Final_Report

2) Related to question 10/10.1, we would like to clarify if you will be working with youths? For example youth organisations? If yes, what are some of the safeguards that you would put in place for your project? JChen (WMF) (talk) 08:36, 25 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Halo @JChen (WMF) thank you for reviewing our proposal. Here are the answer of your question
  1. In the previous project (WikiBalalah), we had mapping local communities in some cities and contacted them for possible collaboration, explained to them about our community and WikiBalalah project and implemented the WikiBalalah project together in 3 different cities. In addition, we also involved Banjarese Wikimedia community members who had contact with the indigenous communities that we would reach to work on this project together, starting from surveys, documentation and editing articles. Previous lessons that were useful for the next WikiBalalah II project were: - Keep engaging the local community by providing the latest information regarding Community activities or Wikimedia movements, invite them in a WhatsApp group to facilitate coordination of future activities and discussing collaborative content on community social media to increase attention from followers.
  2. It seems that the use of the word 'youth' is ambiguous. The youth community we are referring to is a local youth community (in South Kalimantan) of various ages, generally over 25 years old. However, it is also possible that there are participants under 25 years old who are involved as local volunteers who are usually students from local universities. As a safety guide, we will adhere to the Wikimedia Youth Safety Policy, which is in line with applicable laws that protect youth during online and offline. We are dedicated to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all involved. As we always do at the beginning of each event in Banjarese Wikimedia Community, we will read the Wikimedia Youth Safety Policy, and ensure that all participants understand the guidelines. During the event, we also follow this policy to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. After the event, we will ask for feedback from participants by a discussion to find out the effectiveness of the safety guidelines implemented.

Thank you
