Not funded
[edit]Hello Kingaustin07,
Thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of Wikimedia Movement in the most efficient and effective manner.
After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for our decision:
- We think that the proposal is incomplete. The activity plan lacks details.
- We think that focusing on four Wikimedia projects in terms of one project is not viable. It's also unclear what specific content will be edited, how it will be edited and on which Wikimedia project.
- There have been a few similar projects in the past. For example, Wiki Loves Africa covered the African cuisine topic in 2014. Currently, there are other groups who are working with this topic. Since the application is not clear, there is a risk of duplication of efforts.

Hello DSaroyan (WMF) thank you for reviewing my application. I will make clarification on the planed activities and Target Wikimedia projects
- Concerning the four Wikimedia projects, we believe it can be achieved because we are not only organising one training session for editors but four different virtual training. I have been privileged to have attended an approved projects which involved four wiki projects (Wikipedia, Wikidata, wikivoyage and wiki Commons).in other to achieve these will be working with experienced editors in all the targeted wiki to make sure that our goal for the project is achieved.
Wiki loves Africa, I believe covered only articles about African cuisines on Wikipedia but we are focusing on Wiki books for this project.
- Wikibooks:Our main wikimedia target project is Wikibooks. For Wikibooks we will be focusing on the cookbooks part which lack adequate contents on African foods and cooking recipes on these foods.
Wikipedia:we will be creating and improving content on Wikipedia.
- Wiki voyage: Our goal is Adding Eat sections to existing articles and improving them. From my findings, lots of African places lack Eat sections about there restaurants and Eatry on Wiki voyage and we hope to use this project to bridge that.
- Wikimedia Commons: For Wikimedia commons we will be uploading pictures of African Foods from the three participating countries.
- Planed activities:Concerning our planed activities I recently observed that I wrote that we will be having a physical meet up, but after speaking to the head of communities from participating countries. It was clear we might not achieve this goal, hence we chose four virtual sections. Not remembering to change the initial plan of physical meetup activities from the grant before submission. And I apologise for that Inconvenience. We will be having virtual session to teach editors on how to edit our target Wikis. From our budget it was clearly stated that we only made provision for an online event for the project
- And we will also be organising an edit a thon contest after our training to enable us achieve our goals for this project. Kingaustin07 (talk) 14:23, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
