[edit]I think that Wikipedia in Residence shouldn't work only on one ultimate goal - upload media to Wikipedia and write articles himself, he should also encourage people around him to become active contributors. I like your project and I am ready to support it but I would be happy to see number of new active users as a measure of success, too. rubin16 (talk) 15:11, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi rubin16, thank you for you comments. I agree with you about the role of Wikipedian in Residence, and I can assure you that uploading files is not my ultimate goal: In the section "Measures of success", item two, there is clearly saying about new articles: made by GLAM employees and other Wikipedians (including the contest's results), and not by me as WiR.
- About new editors, in the course of my first six months as WiR, there were 24 new editors (9 of them are employees, 13 are students and 2 newbies on Open Day). This is included in my report, but not in measure of success. This will be my second term of 6 months in the same institution with the same GLAM employees, so it is unlikely that the number 24 of new editors could be reached again. My goal this time is to encourage the new editors who already started to improve Wikipedia articles, to continue with Wikipedia activities. Regards, Violetova (talk) 04:25, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

[edit]HiVioletova, thank you for submitting a request to continue your work as a WiR at DARM. We have reviewed and accepted your report for the previous six months, and are impressed by the quality of your work so far - 28% of the files you uploaded are in use and you have trained 24 new editors, which is far more than you expected when you proposed the project. We have posted a few comments and questions below so that we can learn more about your plans:
- How did the lessons you learned in your first six months at DARM influence the plans you have made for the next six months?
- If you have a list of the usernames of DARM employees, students and other people you have trained as part of this project, you can use tools like the Magic Button and X Range Contribs to learn more about how much they are editing. This information might be helpful for you to decide how much of your time to focus on training, and which new editors seem likely to continue editing after training has ended.
- One of the success of your project has been identifying content gaps on Commons and working with DARM to release relevant materials from their collection. Have you thought about training DARM employees how to identify content gaps so that they can curate and upload collections as part of their work?
- Do you expect to make significant changes to the next DARM challenge? If not, I think it would be better to include it in this request so that we can avoid making additional grant agreements and bank transfers.
Congratulations on a successful six months of work - we look forward to your responses so that we can learn more about what you have planned for the next six months. --KHarold (WMF) (talk) 16:47, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi KHarold (WMF), and thank you for your comments. I am happy to share my plans with you.
- In the first six months I learned that DARM employees are willing to collaborate. That is something which I plan to use in order to spread Wikipedia among GLAM employees. Also, management is sending me to Departments in other cities with recommendation, in order to get photos and files which are gap content and important for Wikipedia articles. I already was in Department in Skopje, to get photos from 1963 Skopje earthquake. I intend to visit several Departments in the next six months.
- Thank you for this suggestion. I didn't know about these tools. I will use them, for sure.
- That is a good idea to train DARM employees on how to upload files on Commons. Till now, I trained them only to edit Wikipedia.
- No, there will not be significant changes to the next DARM challenge. I will add costs in this request in order to make agreement and bank transfer more easy.
