Add topicRep points
[edit]It is more or less obvious that we can calculate rep points (karma) but it is not obvious how they should be used. — Jeblad 22:09, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
As evident from the brief of this idea, the rep point system or 'karma' as some put it is essentially a way to summarise a Wiki users behaviours and general stature. Using a system such as this could (and most likely would) encourage users to conduct their online behaviours in a more mature and concise manner.
On a personal note I'm only 18 myself and I know that my friends, family and even myself at times are 'different' people when they are online. Weather they are on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even playing online games, they are more inclined to harass other users (both intentionally and unintentionally). When communicating to other 'strangers' over the Internet there is a much higher chance that harassment will occur. A problem such as this is as influenced as much by the users themselves and the systems put in place to prevent harassment.
I think that a system such as this will discourage harassing behaviours between Wiki users and it could help users to see how a Wiki user conducts themselves behind the mask of the World Wide Web.
A suggestion:
You could further this system to place users with a similar rep score in the same IRC rooms.

I have concerns that this system could be abused. Let's say someone has a view not shared by consensus. That person is likely to be voted down even if they've done nothing wrong. "Stop harassing me by posting reliable sources that disprove my point!" etc. (comment not drawn to scale but very real) Darkfrog24 (talk) 11:03, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
