Thank you, colleagues, for submitting this report to the FDC. We look forward to reviewing it in detail and learning more about your work last year. KLove (WMF) (talk) 17:13, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Katy,
I have found some mistakes on the report ¿can I fixed them or I do better write here what the mistakes are? Thanks--Anna Torres (WMAR) (talk) 18:15, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Anna Torres (WMAR), can you tell me what the changes are here before making edits? Thanks! KLove (WMF) (talk) 03:52, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Feedback from FDC staff

[edit]

The FDC staff (Katy and Winifred) shared their thoughts and feedback and asked questions about both the 2013-14 Impact Report and the 2014-15 Progress Report over a Skype call / Hangout held with WMAR. What follows is the summary of the conversation, which took place on Sept 1 2015, covering these two reports. Thank you, WMAR, for speaking with us, and thanks for all your hard work! Appreciation

[edit]
  • Thank you for all the effort and work that the team at WMAR put into the creation of the [[progress report in particular. We know that the long report obviously took a lot of love and labor. We found the infographics helpful in understanding your work, and appreciated the use of more consistent metrics for programs like education. We are grateful for the additional context, but future progress and impact reports do not need to be this lengthy or detailed. We’re happy to work with you to try to figure out how to hit the right balance of context/detail and big picture. We know it’s not easy!
  • We like the more focused approach WMAR is taking this year, and encourage WMAR to continue in this direction of focusing on and deepening its programs, including education and GLAM. WMAR’s approaches to integrating aspects of education work and GLAM work is interesting, and we hope this leads to good results.
  • WMAR’s cross-cutting gender approach is effectively integrated across different programs, and we appreciate that WMAR is a leader in emphasizing diversity in its work, including work with gender and minority groups.

Concerns

[edit]
  • We are concerned that WMAR and WMF are not understanding impact in the same way. While WMAR is proud of its progress in laying the groundwork for future work in Argentina, and values this long term progress, and we also acknowledge that this is important, we have yet to see significant results in terms of participation or content (amount or quality) that match the amount of funding WMAR is getting.
  • Along these lines, content-related and participation-related outcomes for WMAR’s programs, including GLAM, Federalization, Education, are very low. Due to a lack of relevant metrics, we are having difficulty understanding the impact of WMAR’s awareness work.
  • We are concerned about the lack of progress in a few programs. The federalization program is high-cost and staff-intensive, but hasn’t yet shown results that match this level of investment. We understand that the groundwork WMAR has laid in education is starting to bear fruit; however, we are concerned about slow progress with GLAM institutions.
  • WMAR faces challenges with a small core editing community and a large geographical area, and we share WMAR’s concerns in engaging enough volunteers to sustain its programs over time.
