Proposed participation

[edit]

I organise school projects for adults the last 3 years. I have two submissions accepted in this informatics conference, where I will be speaking about a) the school project I organised this year in the Second Chance School of Corfu (See: Greek adult school graduates learn to edit Wikipedia and inspire their peers) and b) a study that show effectiveness of using Wikipedia in the school process.

Goal and expected impact

[edit]

As a result of my talk, everyone in the audience will become aware of the Wikipedia Education Program. It is an effort to encourage more educators and teachers to use Wikipedia in school projects and explain the benefits of it. A similar talk last year (see: Wikipedia in Secondary and Adult Education: presentation at CIE2014 in Corfu, Greece) raised some awareness but this time the audience will be much larger since this conference is held n the capital of Greece, Athens.

Budget breakdown

[edit]
  • Travel (round trip airfare from Corfu to Athens): 160 Euros (approx.)
  • Accommodation: 0 Euros (I have a place to stay overnight)
  • Bus tickets from/to airport: 10 Euros.
  • Registration fees: 80 Euros. (Each submission comes with a 40 Euros fee)

Other instructions

[edit]
  • If there is a chance that you also cover 80 Euros (2x40) for the registration fees of the other two authors of the submissions it would be great. But this is optional. The first submission is a joint work with Amalia Pagrati (teacher of Greek) and the second submission is a joint work with Kostas Skiadopoulos (teacher of informatics).
A decision has not been made for this request, but it is being considered by the committee. See discussion page for details. -- Jtud (WMF) (talk) 18:00, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Endorsements

[edit]

I tried to post my endorsement from Wikimania. I guess the edit wasn't saved due to wifi issues. For what it's worth, since this grant has already been funded, I'm in regular contact with Marios about his education program activities in Corfu and am very proud of the work he is doing in adult schools there. I encouraged him to apply for this grant. I fully support the application. All the best, Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 11:29, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
