Extension request

[edit]

New end date

[edit]

I would like to request and extension to the end of January 2021.

Rationale

[edit]

A number of factors have delayed progress on some of the project goals including

  • Brexit and its changing deadline has made it difficult for me to be in France, both in renting an apartment and knowing if I would need some kind of visa (working in the UN may require a non standard visa).
  • There were contract issues at UNESCO, there are very few options for contracts that fit external funding and this took several months to organise.

Having a long extension like this will give me consistent access to UNESCO HQ and allow me to gain additional funding from other sources without having to worry about losing access to the building because of delayed contracts etc.

@John Cummings: Thanks for your request John, and the larger context around Brexit and contractual issues. I am approving this request, but please keep in mind that future extension requests will need to made before your deadline. The end date of grant is now set for 31 January 2021, with the final report due on 28 February 2021. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:28, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Many thanks @I JethroBT (WMF):, John Cummings (talk) 00:15, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Extension request

New end date

[edit]

1 Dec 2022

Rationale

[edit]

The pandemic closed down many of the departments at UNESCO which were directly involved in our ongoing work, so we were not able to continue the project with any reasonable level of efficiency until they began to open up again. Prior to this, we had submitted a midterm report draft but had heard nothing back, so wrongly assumed that the grants department was also on pause. There are a few last activities that I need to complete to use up the remainder of the additional time transferred to me following the departure of Sean McBirnie from the project. The final report can be submitted within two weeks of the proposed project finish date. NavinoEvans (talk) 00:25, 3 September 2022 (UTC)

@I JethroBT (WMF):, @Mjohnson (WMF): just pinging you here in case it hadn't shown up on a todo list somewhere. NavinoEvans (talk) 13:32, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
@NavinoEvans: Hi Navino, and thanks for this update and request for an extension. Totally understand the substantial disruptions due to the pandemic and team departures, which clearly set things back. The requested end date of 1 December 2022 is approved. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 14:36, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for the understanding I JethroBT (WMF), greatly appreciated! NavinoEvans (talk) 14:49, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
Noting here that the final report due date is now 2 January 2023. -- JTud (WMF), Grants Administrator (talk) 16:16, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
