Grants:Project/Rapid/Wikimedia Ghana User Group/Edits & Engagement I
Please see the sample Editathon/Training application before drafting your application.
Project Goal
[edit]Wikimedia Ghana User Group at the moment has about 336 user group members which we have spent grant funds recruiting, spread over the 16 regions in Ghana, in our database. We want to engage every single one of them, through either offline or online means around Wikipedia and Wikidata. The project hence will increase skills for existing editors, engage those who prefer to edit in a group setting and add or improve content for the mentioned wikis.
Project Plan
[edit]Activities
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings? The members were surveyed and we are directed to hold 10 editathons spanning 4-6 hours each.
2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
We have a mailing list, a Whatsapp group and a Telegram group as well which will be used to inform the community that their wishes are going to be met. However, we will contact each of the 336 either by phone, IM or email.
3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the project?
- Yes. Some will travel to other cities if need be.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Yes. As usual, all they need to have is their laptop. If the grant succeeds, we will provide them with internet.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- These are already existing members we are hoping to engage.
6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- No.

---|---|---|
Number of events | 10 | |
Number of participants | 100 | We will contact each of the 336 so they know we care about their progress in the community and their participation.
However, we also know not all may come on board for the engagement activities. With that in mind and the limited funds, we want to aim for 100. |
