Project Plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- The marathon will run throughout the month (July). During the marathon, all participating communities will be maximally involved, while local organizers can conduct trainings for new participants (online only). The marathon will be held at the same time in several Turkic Wikipedia (trwiki, azwiki, ttwiki, tyvwiki and etc.). With this marathon, we want to increase the number of new articles and the number of new users, in addition, our goal is to increase the motivation of existing and active project contributors to work on improving their skills and increasing the content of projects. It's also important that as we increase the content, we facilitate the accessibility of the content to readers in their native language.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- We created a project page on Meta-Wiki and landing pages will also be created on local Wikipedias. We also contacted all potential affiliates and invited them to participate in the marathon and organize the marathon at the local level. Communities and affiliates interested in were registered using this page. When the project begins we will, through the SiteNotice, preempt all Wikipedia visitors about the project. Also, through official accounts of AzWikipedia and Wikimedia TR in social networks (azwiki Facebook, WMTR Facebook, WMTR Twitter) and mailing lists, we will attract new members and warn them about our project.
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- As indicated above, we will use SiteNotice, our accounts on social networks, mailing lists, announcements on the forums (village pump) and also the Telegram chat and Facebook group.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
- Yes.
- Mehman97.
- HakanIST Wikidata enthusiast, member of WMTR & Turkic Wikimedians.
- Wertuose active editor of azwiki, leader of WM UG-AZ, organizer of the CEE Spring and other WM projects.
- Sakhalinio organizer of the Gender Gap events and WLE in Turkey, active editor of WM projects and member of WMTR & Turkic Wikimedians.
5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- All existing Wikipedia participants have all the necessary skills and technical devices to participate in the competition. New participants if they do not have the necessary skills, we will help them to conduct lessons for them.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- As WM Turkic UG we try to hold many thematic events and meetings, so the editors are free to take part in our projects. In addition, Turkic Wikipedias conduct other own contests in which all participants can participate.
7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
- We will not have an offline (in-person) event.
8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- We hope that our second annual marathon will be successful. This project is important for the development and improvement of Turkic Wikipedias.
