Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
- The goals of the project were met, the team and community members gained a lot of new skills in contributing to Wikipedia and at the end all participants learnt one or more new skills. The whole project was a success and full of excitement.
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Number of total participants at community meetings: 150 | 160 | We exceeded our target by 10 since we had new register expressed interest in the movement. |
Number of total participants at team meetings: 48 | 50 | The target of 48 was exceeded by 2, we invited 2 community members to take part in the team's meetups since we had intend to move them to be part of the team in future. |
Number of new users engaged/recruited into Wikimedia movement: 50 | 60 | Existing users invited their peers over to the training venue and others had information about the meetups from other mediums, these made our expectation to be exceeded. |
Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- Involving some selected community members to be part of the Team meetups made them to experience the happenings within the team and that made them to be potential members that could join the team in future. Also, during the community in-person training sessions we were able to select experienced community members to be mentors of groups that typically were new editors to guide them in case they needed support with regard to contributing to Wikimedia projects.
- What did not work so well?
- More people than expected took part in the event making it difficult to observe covid-19 restrictions. Internet connectivity problem was encountered as we experienced fluctuations in internet connectivity.
- What would you do differently next time?
- We will be organizing more hybrid events and getting more backups for internet services.
