Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes.
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Setting up Commons pages for the Wiki Loves Africa contest (home, theme, faq, etc.) | Done | c:Commons:Wiki Loves Africa 2019 |
Call for translation | Done | I published calls. I found a volunteer to actually push the calls and lead translations (but he did not do it... so I did...). I found someone to do translation in Portuguese (this is a first for Wiki Loves Africa !). Main languages we cared about are up. Leaflet in FR, EN and PT. |
Set up of the banner system/site notice, upload wizard tunnel with category architecture | Done | Up and working |
Clean up and improvement of documentation pages | Done | Wiki Loves Africa 2019/documentation and linked pages |
Facilitate setting up a team | Done | Not easy though... one person strongly volunteered and then did not show up. It is better than previous years, but not yet sufficient :( Yet, we have a communication team and a jury leader now. |
Call teams to make their funding request in November and December. Support to local teams when needed for rapid grants. | Done | Happy I managed to get some new local teams involved ! |
Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- What did not work so well?
- What would you do differently next time?
Overall, there was nothing unexpected really.
The ONE thing I would do differently next time is... not to start a contest on a Friday and NEVER during All Hands when you need a WMF staff member to help you launch. It is good for no-one...
Finances
[edit]Grant funds spent
[edit]Please describe how much grant money you spent for approved expenses, and tell us what you spent it on.
I received 1750 euros as a compensation.
Remaining funds
[edit]Do you have any remaining grant funds?
No
