Purpose and vision

Please give a brief description of the event you are planning. What do you hope to accomplish during the event? Why is this event important for your community?

Wiki Club members giving interview to the media on the celebration of Wikipedia 16

We plan to organize three days Wiki Camp for underage students and members of Wiki Clubs in November 2017. GLAM Macedonia is running several Wiki Clubs in the Republic of Macedonia, and Wiki Camp is one way to increase participation of the students. The framework of the program is all about editing Wikipedia. The first session will include a workshop on how to edit Wikipedia for beginners. This event will bring together experienced editors and newbies. Along with all activities in the program, we expect that the beginners will found Wikipedia useful, editing process as fun, and that they would like to enroll as members of one of the existing Wiki Clubs in Macedonia, and they will continue to edit Wikipedia after the event.

Background

[edit]

Community input

[edit]

Use the results from the community engagement survey to fill in the table below. Since you cannot cover all topics or meet all needs at one event, prioritisation is important. Please rank the priority of each topic, skill, project or problem as high, medium or low. Finally, please answer the questions below the table.

The program for Wiki Camp is created to fit with our strategy goals and to meet the expectations, needs and opportunities of students. The first day, there will be session for beginners on how to edit Wikipedia. All three days we will have edit-a-thons, workshops, one wiki expedition around the event place, workshop about Commons, etc. We expect more than 150 new articles created by the participants at the end of the event. One of our team members is an amateur athlete, and she will be responsible to organize sport activities for the participants.

Survey analysis:

We will have survey analysis from the participants after the event. We prepared questions for them with the registration form. After the event, all participants will have to answer the questions as a feedback about the whole event, including the program, via survey form.

Plan

[edit]

Venue and Logistics

[edit]
1. If the venue is more than 1 hour away from a major airport or transportation hub, how will participants travel to the event venue?
Almost all participants will be from Skopje and area, and we will travel by bus to the hotel in Berovo.
2. Is the event venue within walking distance from the hotel? If not, how will people travel between the two locations?
The venue is in the hotel. No need for travel to the venue.
3. Is the event venue and hotel accessible for people with physical disabilities?
Yes
4. Do you anticipate any challenges with using the space for the event you are planning?
It is a small hotel where the Wiki Camp will be hold. We choose the small hotel in order to be unique guests there, which is important, because our participants will be underage students and Wiki Clubs members, so we want to be safe. We made agreement with the officials of the hotel to not accept any outside guests while we are there.
