Response
[edit]I am applying for a scholarship to support my attendance at the WikiCon Australia 2024.
My participation will enable me to contribute to improving Australian content and foster inclusive collaboration within the community. I can contribute by sharing my editing experience, leading workshops on content creation, and fostering community engagement to enhance the quality and reach of Wikipedia articles.
My current contributions enhance Australian content through updates on companies and organisations, and local history - ensuring accuracy and reducing maintenance issues across diverse topics.
I'm considering proposing one of three sessions:
- enhancing local history on Wikipedia;
- maintaining quality and reducing content gaps;
- fostering inclusive contributions, recognising unconcious bias, and creating a more welcoming environment.
I'm one of the 30% of Australian residents born overseas, a woman, and the member of two minority groups. I live a major capital city and I've been editing Wikipedia since 2003.
By attending WikiCon Australia 2024, I'm hoping to expand my network, contribute to the growth of a more diverse and accurate Wikipedia community, learn more about the specific needs for First Nations content and how to ensure accurate and respectful representation, and enhance my editing skills.
I will try to attend even if I don't receive a scholarship or partial scholarship.
