Information for Data Partners | Information for GLAM Partners |
Wikimedia Sverige[edit]Wikimedia Sverige (Sweden) is a local chapter of the Wikimedia movement. Wikimedia Sverige is responsible for the project, including coordination of activities, partners and reporting. Wikimedia Sverige will also work on the technical development around the data and images and with organizing events. |
UNESCO[edit]The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency of the UN working to contribute to peace and security by promoting international collaboration through education, science, and culture to further universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and human rights along with fundamental freedom. They have recently started working more with open data and have a Wikipedian in Residence hired to help them make material (both media and data) available in the Wikimedia world with compatible free licenses. UNESCO’s role in the project is to initiate contacts with countries with relevant cultural heritage data and GLAMs with media files that might be uploaded to Commons. UNESCO will also release data and media and organize and participate in events to promote the project and awareness of cultural heritage. |
Cultural Heritage without Borders[edit]CHwB works to protect and preserve both material and intellectual cultural heritage that is threatened by war, natural disasters, mismanagement or political or social conflicts. They have a broad network and established contacts in several countries and regions, and have three offices in the Balkan area. In this project CHwB are responsible for finding countries where cultural heritage data is available and to act as a door opener with local organizations and authorities in trying to get data and other material released with free licenses. |
Wikimedia Italia[edit]Wikimedia Italia (Italy) is a local chapter of the Wikimedia movement. Wikimedia Italia is the main contact for Gruppo Archeologico Romano and their work with uploading images to Commons; furthermore it has signed an agreement with the association DecArch for the donation of about 950 photos of the same interest. They are also responsible for organizing the photo exhibition. |
GLAM partnerships
[edit]During the span of the project we can support a few selected GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) with the technical work of batch uploading the relevant media they have - for free! It is important for us to do this in cooperation with local Wikimedia organizations and/or volunteers.

Suggestions
[edit]Suggestions for GLAMs to get in touch with as they have material of interest for this project (i.e immovable cultural heritage). If you have been in contact with them before, or have an ongoing partnership, you can write that down also.

Some arguments you can use to increase GLAM interest
[edit]- Presenting them with the opportunity to get free technical support.
- Join a larger effort supported by UNESCO.
- Get more visibility by having their material included in Wikipedia articles. Events will be organized to make sure good content is put in use.
- Connect their collections to others for added context and help with improvement of metadata.
