[edit]The National Monuments of Zimbabwe are protected and promoted in accordance with the National Museums and Monuments Act 1972 and collated by the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe (NMMZ).
Legislated protection of cultural heritage in Zimbabwe
[edit]A permit is required before destroying, damaging, altering, or removing any site or artefacts from a National Monument. However sites are not protected against mining activities due to the Mines and Minerals Act.
There is no national register of built cultural heritage in Zimbabwe (confirmed by UNESCO regional office for Southern Africa).
