Community Wishlist/Wishes/Standardiserte datoer i referanser for innholdsoversettelse/en
Description
Especially when using the content translation tool, someone may want to use the references from the original article. Even though a lot of the information is fitting, there are an abundance of error messages that state the dates are not correctly formatted. This may happen because a language project has used one way of writing dates that doesn't correspond to the expected formatting in the target language.
For example, in an article from English Wikipedia, a reference may use the value "6 December 2024", where the expected value on Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia is "6. desember 2024", "6. des. 2024" or "2024-12-06". Then you get an error message that stay until you correct the date formatting, and there is often up to three such, different dates in one citation (date archives, date accessed, and date published). As someone who translates manually (no machine translations, please!), a lot of time is spent correcting and fixing these, in a user interface that isn't entirely cooperative in my experience.
I don't know how this works on other language projects, or how it may be improved, but I assume most citation modules accept the YYYY-MM-DD
format? Perhaps it is possible to convert the date values to this? I am not certain, but if this is fixed, it makes it a lot faster to translate content that is important to convey in multiple languages.
