Discussion
[edit]The message on the Bistrot of WP:FR is here.
- @Myrelionis: As far as I can see, there are some concerns regarding banner campaigns (at all). What is your opinion about that? —DerHexer (Talk) 19:36, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @DerHexer this is the first time that @Myrelionis is trying to set up a banner for our Quinzaine des autreices. I dont think they feel comfortable answering yet, they are just trying to do what we have been doing the last years. Maybe you could explain the concerns to them and link to relevent discussions ? Warm regards Natacha LSP (talk) 12:39, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- The discussion was linked by them in the first message. I tried to follow the concerns there but I don't feel safe enough to make a decision here if the concerns there are too big that the campaign should not be created. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:48, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you @DerHexer now i understand better your concerns. @Laugriville et @Myrelionis le message posté sur le bistrot sert à demander l'aval de la communauté sur la Wikipédia francophone, et DerHexer ne peut pas décider seul de valider la bannière ou non. ̴̴̴̴ Natacha LSP (talk) 15:49, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

- Hello @DerHexer,
- Based on the reactions in the bistro, I don’t get the impression that there is any opposition to submitting this request for a banner for the Quinzain des Autrices. Some general objections have been raised, but they are not directly related to my request and could be addressed later through a survey. What do you think? Myrelionis (talk) 10:08, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

[edit]- similar campaign setting for French-speaking countries —DerHexer (Talk) 19:37, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- High DerHexer (Talk). Thank you for your concern. I am one of the two people who try to ask for a banner. I have seen your example for french speaking countries. Can you tell me please where I can choose those items ? Thank you very much for your help. Laugriville (talk) 13:33, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Laugriville: I'm not sure I understand what you mean. For the other campaign I have used the en:List of countries and territories where French is an official language article for selecting all French-speaking countries. In the linked campaign you can see the list of countries and regions that I could match. If you want one or the other removed or added, please list it here. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 13:39, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- @DerHexer. In the request, I delete the terms "and all french talking countries in Africa" which was too large. Is it your point when you write " if the concerns there are too big" ? Thank you again. Laugriville (talk) 15:49, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Laugriville: It's not much of a problem for me to include more countries, it's okay with me when I copy the countries from the WikiConvention Francophone 2024 campaign. But, in the community discussion I can read comments like “Ce que je voulais dire c'est qu'il est loin d'être évident qu'il y ait un consensus communautaire pour l'usage des bannière.” and general concerns about using banners at all (and in particular for this campaign). We CentralNotice administrators are obliged to create and enable a campaign only when there is community consensus. And yes, I know that this is a returning campaign which makes it complicated because I want to support you to get the campaign enabled. — I think that is what Natacha LSP also implied above. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:03, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- @DerHexer. Sorry, I did'nt got you well about the consensus of the community. I understand now. We will discuss on the Bistro to try to get a consensus for this particular banner, before there is any survey on banner case in general. Thank you very much for your patience. Best regards. Laugriville (talk) 16:13, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sure, no worries and good luck. :) —DerHexer (Talk) 16:15, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @DerHexer. The discuss about our banner seem to end well on the Bistro. What do you tkink ? Have a nice day. Laugriville (talk) 08:16, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

- @Myrelionis, Laugriville, and Natacha LSP: Thanks for the clarifications around the feedback of the local community. I am ready to process the campaign, but need to make you aware two points of the usage guidelines:
- “When possible, use icons or graphics instead of images to improve banner readability, reduce visual complexity, and minimize layout disruptions, particularly on mobile devices.”
- “Caution is advised when using images of people due to privacy and cultural sensitivities.”
- While the former could be okay somehow with the reduced number of details, I have concerns about using a depiction of a living person. Did she agree to this kind of use in a banner (although it is only shown to logged-in users)? As far as I can see, she is just an example for what you are doing and not a main focus for your campaign. A more general logo would make more sense here, what do you think? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:18, 2 March 2025 (UTC) PS: Please clarify the projects you want to target beyond Wikipedia and Commons. PPS: We can only process HTML/CSS/JavaScript banners (no wikimarkup) but I assume that I can convert your banner as long as it stays as simple.
- Thank you very much @DerHexer for your advices. We will return to you as soon as possible. We have a new country - Tchad - in our list. Will it be possible to add it ? Best regards. Laugriville (talk) 17:13, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your valuable advice! I've replaced the image with the association's icon—does this work better? Best regards Myrelionis (talk) 06:20, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @DerHexer @Myrelionis @Natacha_LSP. We followed your advice and changed the banner's illustrationas as you can see. The banner's code is HTML with CSS inline. We hope it will work well. We added wiki projects to target. Please excuse us to be so slow to understand your questions. So much time spent for you. Thank you again for your help. Best regards. Laugriville (talk) 14:56, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Myrelionis, Laugriville, and Natacha LSP: I have created the campaign (including Tchad) and banner (your preparation still included a wikilink to the photo and was lacking a close button, plus likely mobile responsiveness -> it was easier for me to adapt our standard banner with your settings). Does the preview look okay to you? Please check this and all settings thoroughly, approve the banner and ping me so that I can enable the campaign. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:21, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Dear @DerHexer. Thank you so much. We have to learn much more to do right on this exercise. The banner you made is OK for us. Best regards. Laugriville (talk) 17:52, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, I have enabled the campaign. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:56, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
