Discussion

[edit]

The message on the Bistrot of WP:FR is here.

@Myrelionis: As far as I can see, there are some concerns regarding banner campaigns (at all). What is your opinion about that? —DerHexer (Talk) 19:36, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hello @DerHexer this is the first time that @Myrelionis is trying to set up a banner for our Quinzaine des autreices. I dont think they feel comfortable answering yet, they are just trying to do what we have been doing the last years. Maybe you could explain the concerns to them and link to relevent discussions ? Warm regards Natacha LSP (talk) 12:39, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion was linked by them in the first message. I tried to follow the concerns there but I don't feel safe enough to make a decision here if the concerns there are too big that the campaign should not be created. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:48, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @DerHexer now i understand better your concerns. @Laugriville et @Myrelionis le message posté sur le bistrot sert à demander l'aval de la communauté sur la Wikipédia francophone, et DerHexer ne peut pas décider seul de valider la bannière ou non. ̴̴̴̴ Natacha LSP (talk) 15:49, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @DerHexer,
Based on the reactions in the bistro, I don’t get the impression that there is any opposition to submitting this request for a banner for the Quinzain des Autrices. Some general objections have been raised, but they are not directly related to my request and could be addressed later through a survey. What do you think? • @Myrelionis, Laugriville, and Natacha LSP: Thanks for the clarifications around the feedback of the local community. I am ready to process the campaign, but need to make you aware two points of the usage guidelines:
    • “When possible, use icons or graphics instead of images to improve banner readability, reduce visual complexity, and minimize layout disruptions, particularly on mobile devices.”
    • “Caution is advised when using images of people due to privacy and cultural sensitivities.”
While the former could be okay somehow with the reduced number of details, I have concerns about using a depiction of a living person. Did she agree to this kind of use in a banner (although it is only shown to logged-in users)? As far as I can see, she is just an example for what you are doing and not a main focus for your campaign. A more general logo would make more sense here, what do you think? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:18, 2 March 2025 (UTC) PS: Please clarify the projects you want to target beyond Wikipedia and Commons. PPS: We can only process HTML/CSS/JavaScript banners (no wikimarkup) but I assume that I can convert your banner as long as it stays as simple.[reply]
Thank you very much @DerHexer for your advices. We will return to you as soon as possible. We have a new country - Tchad - in our list. Will it be possible to add it ? Best regards. Laugriville (talk) 17:13, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your valuable advice! I've replaced the image with the association's icon—does this work better? Best regards Myrelionis (talk) 06:20, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @DerHexer @Myrelionis @Natacha_LSP. We followed your advice and changed the banner's illustrationas as you can see. The banner's code is HTML with CSS inline. We hope it will work well. We added wiki projects to target. Please excuse us to be so slow to understand your questions. So much time spent for you. Thank you again for your help. Best regards.
