What region(s) of the world do you have experience with, and what kind of experience do you have? (“Experience” can mean you have lived or worked there or are currently living or working there; you’re familiar with the culture and language; etc.) I am originally from the MENA region and currently based in North and West Europe. I studied my master’s degree in Paris, which added to my multilingual and multicultural background. From a young age, I’ve been organizing events and gatherings for students. These experiences helped me understand the diverse needs, communication styles, and cultural differences of various regions, which are important for working with affiliates.
What Wikimedia project(s) do you actively edit? And in what language(s)? Arabic Wikisource: Admin and Trainer. I am serving in admin capacities, helping to maintain the integrity and quality of content while fostering a collaborative editing environment.

Arabic Wikipedia: Editor, and Organizer. I am a regular contributor in Wikipedia, and actively participating in discussions. I also organize edit-a-thones and editing workshops.

Arabic Wikitionary: I have started Revive Arabic Wiktionary Project.

Wikimedia Commons: Organizing campaigns.

What affiliate(s) are you actively involved with? In what capacity are you involved? Do you serve in a leadership role or have you in the past? Wiki World Heritage Group: Board Member

Wikisource community user group: Preliminary Board Member

Non-recognized affiliate: Co-founder of Wikimedia Libya Community and Arabic Wikidata Community

Have you served on any committees (movement-related or otherwise)? And what was your role on the committee(s)? I have been a member of the MENA & SSA regional fund committee since its founding. I am also engaged in global campaigns, am leading conferences, and was a Wikimania COT. I have also served on the scholarship committee in WikiArabia 2022. With a deep commitment to creating a healthy environment, I am engaged in initiatives for the movement strategy like being an organizer in the SWAN. I am also a member Future Affiliate Gatherings Group.

I am currently leading the planning efforts for the upcoming Wikisource conference, overseeing logistical arrangements and program development to ensure a successful and enriching event for participants.

Please describe any experience you have with conflict resolution and/or consensus building. Building on my experience as an admin on Arabic Wikisource and an active follower of discussions on different village pumps, I have expertise in conflicts and conflict resolutions and drafting policies and enforcing them.

I am dedicated to supporting emerging communities like Libya, where comprehensive policy understanding and implementation are vital for fostering a sense of belonging and continuity. By leveraging my experience and commitment, I am ready to make meaningful contributions to advancing the AffCom and create a more inclusive Wikimedia community for all.

In your ideal world, what does the affiliate model and ecosystem look like? In my ideal world, the affiliate model and ecosystem are designed to align with the Wikimedia movement’s vision while respecting the unique characteristics of each community. A foundational principle across all affiliates—whether well-established, underrepresented, or newly forming—should be accountability and transparency, particularly for those in leadership roles. This ensures trust, equity, and sustainable growth within the movement.
In your ideal world, what are AffCom’s roles and responsibilities in relation to the movement and affiliates? *Evaluating the effectiveness and quality of affiliates, ensuring they align with the movement’s vision and health criteria.
  • Identifying the needs of affiliates and providing tailored support to enhance their growth and impact.
  • Monitoring affiliates’ compliance with policies and promoting good governance and ethical conduct.
  • Facilitating conflict resolution within and between affiliates, addressing issues like conflicts of interest.
  • Approving and periodically updating affiliate and affiliate health criteria to reflect the needs of the movement and its communities.
What role within AffCom are you most interested in: advisory or voting member? I am interested in both capacities with most interest in voting membership.
