A Wikimedia public writing project to create, improve and translate Nigeria LGBT+ articles on Wikipedia and also train more Nigeria queers on how to contribute to the Wikimedia project!
After the success of WikiForHuman right project on LGBT in Nigeria which trained over 30 queer persons on how to contribute to Wikipedia and also produced 10 distinct Wikipedia articles.
What is the WikiForHumanRights on LGBT in Nigeria?
A project that trained over 30 queer persons in Nigeria with physical training held at Lagos and Abuja in partnership with Bisi Alimi Foundation and produced 10 distinct Wikipedia articles which include: Olumide Makanjuola, Temmie Ovwasa, James Brown, Akudo Oguaghamba, Arinze Ifeakunde, Women's Health and Equal Rights Initiative, Emioluwa Adeoluwa, Moji Solar-Wilson, Mattew Blaise.
What will the Write for Rights Contest be about?
This will be inform of a Nigeria public writing competition to create and improve articles that will strengthen Wikipedia's coverage of Nigeria LGBT+. The winners will receive great prizes. The Challenge is organized in partnership with Bisi Alimi Foundation and supported by the Wikimedia Foundation.
When will it take place?
There will be an online training via Webinar for new persons who are not farmilar with editing Wikipedia. The writing challenge will run from 00:01 on 1 September (GMT +01:00) until 23:59 on 30 September 2021 (GMT +01:00). Add your username here to be part.
