Appearance
Wikivoyage is ten years being part of the Wikimedia family. To celebrate, Wikimedia Small Projects with the support of the linguistic communities involved in the project, have organized this contest to raise awareness of the language versions of the project and get more people on board.
Rules of participation
The global rules are listed here. Additionally, each participating language community was offered the opportunity to use the global awarding criteria or to create its own local criteria.
Awarding points is at the sole discretion of the judges. Wikimedia Small Projects will award prizes based on the decision made by them.
Global rules
- The contribution will be valid if it was made between January 16 and February 20, 2023. Exceptions are admissible at the discretion of the judges and organizers.
- You must be logged in to your Wikimedia user account.
- Participants should avoid adding large chunks of text obtained from unedited machine translators.
- Follow copyright rules strictly. Participants should avoid copying external content whose license is not compatible with the projects, as this violates copyright and the content will be removed. When external content has a license that is compatible with the projects, proper attribution of origin must be given, according to the terms of use and copyright policy. New, original content is preferred!
- You are allowed to edit collaboratively, even if another contest participant is already working on that article. Please fix links, update information, add listings, etc. Please note that article styling should be left to organizers and experienced editors from that project.
- You may be disqualified, at the discretion of the organizing team, if you make edits that could be construed as sabotage.
Global awarding criteria
Note: English Wikivoyage has different criteria, so this section does not apply to them.
Travel content
- 7 points for filling an important content gap in the project (e.g., by creating an article on a large city or important region, or substantially expanding an empty/outline article on such a destination);
- 5 points for creating a new article (the article will be valid if have the required basic templates, basic article structure and an introduction that briefly describes the destination (simply "X is a city in region Y" does not count as a valid introduction);
- 3 points for improving an existing article;
- 1 point for each 2000 bytes added to an existing article or a new article that has a basic structure.
Images
- 1 point for illustrating an article;
- 3 points if the article is illustrated with original images taken by the participant, provided that Commons doesn't have any similar images.
