Wikism may refer to:
- Any word that has come into common usage as a result of being the feature of, or being featured in, a Wikipedia article. Interestingly, the words 'Wikipedia', 'Wiktionary', 'Wiki', 'Wikinut', 'Wikify' and the word 'Wikism' itself, are all examples of frequently used Wikisms, although Wikisms without the prefix 'Wiki' do exist.
- A psychological addiction to wiki writing. Similar addictions have been observed in those compulsively preoccupied with chat rooms, instant messaging, blogs and video games. See also Wikipediholic and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
- Since 2005 the term "wikism" has also been used in the context of expressing new collaborative literature projects using the wiki philosophy, using the postfix "ism" to express a cultural movement (WikiPoets, Wikifiction, Wikiwriting). One example of successful project is the Italian Wiki-Poesia project produced by the contemporary literature group Nuoviautori.org (in this case the world "wikism" is used in its Italian translated version: “wikismo”). The English language Wiki-Poetry is yet in its embryonic phase (Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Sandbox/Poetry). On the other hand the English community is quite mature in collaborative fiction, with several ongoing projects.
