There are other ideas which try and do similar things to Wikiscope. Here I discuss them.
Wikipedia Portals

- Each portal has a broad subject (art, mathematics, science) and they pass viewers on to more Wikipedia pages.
- Similarities
- They focus on a topic and send users into related pages.
- Differences
- They only deal with Wikipedia, the topics are very broad.
- Pros
- Linked to on Wikipedia, simple to use.
- Cons
- Part of Wikipedia, only deals with Wikipedia, very broad topics, not very well known.

Commons' Sisterlinks

- Description
- An attempt to use Wikimedia Commons categories to link to various pages in the Wikimedia projects.
- Similarities
- They link to other Wikimedia Projects, each page centers on a topic.
- Differences
- They are only a part of an existing page.
- Pros
- Good category system already in place, easier to implement.
- Cons
- Part of Commons, not very well known, hard to write (lots of templates), based in an existing project. They only link to the other project's portal (so Commons on Egypt links to Wikipedia on Egypt).

- Description
- An attempt to improve interwiki linking and inter-project linking by centralizing it on a single location.
- Similarities
- They link to other Wikimedia Projects, each page centers on a topic.
- Differences
- interwiki links between pages with the same (sub)topic, Wikiscope will list the best pages from a broader subject
- Pros
- Better interproject overview from a page on a wikimedia project page (for example wikipeda Nile)
- Cons
- Needs restructuring the mediawiki; All languages will be listed on one page
