Wikipedia-Artikel brauchen Fotos

Mit Petscan (http://petscan.wmflabs.org) kann man Artikel suchen, die in einer bevorzugten Sprache ohne Bilder sind. Anschließend kann man mit der Massviews Analysis (https://pageviews.toolforge.org/massviews/) die Petscan-Artikel nach Abrufen pro Tag sortieren. Der Ablauf ist wie folgt:

1. gehe zu http://petscan.wmflabs.org
2. im Reiter Kategorien kannst du deine bevorzugte Sprache auswählen (zum Beispiel ar, en, sk)
3. nach Kategorien filtern kannst du, indem du jede, die dich interessiert, im Textfeld Kategorien angibst (pro Zeile eine ohne das vorangestellte "Kategorie:")
4. lege die Suchtiefe für die einzuschließenden Unterkategorien fest (0 heißt keine Unterkategorien)
5. klicke den Reiter Seiteneigenschaften an und wähle bei Hauptbild die Option Nein aus
6. klicke den Reiter Wikidata an
7. wähle aus, nach welchen Seitenlinks gefiltert werden soll (zum Beispiel Hat alle enwiki, dewiki, zhwiki, fawiki, frwiki, aber Hat keinen gawiki)
8. klicke den Reiter Ausgabe an
9. wähle als Format PagePile aus
10. klicke auf Los! zur Ausführung der Suche
11. kopiere die Pile-Nummer im Kopf der Suche (oben links zeigt die Ergebnisseite "Pile 12345" an, 12345 ist die Pile-Nummer)
12. gehe zu https://pageviews.toolforge.org/massviews/
13. wähle Page Pile als Quelle im Auswahlmenü neben dem Suchfeld
14. füge die Pile-Nummer ins Quellen-Suchfeld ein

Wenn das erledigt ist, wird eine Liste von Artikeln ohne Fotos aus dieser Kategorie erzeugt. Gehe danach zu Wikimedia Commons, um nach entsprechenden Bildern mit dem Artikeltitel zu suchen.

Tools

FIST

The FIST tool (Deadlink, July 2022) allows you to search for Free Images based on the topic. Note that queries that include a large number of images can be very slow.

WDWP a new tool developed for the WPWP has an index of articles with missing images in certain languages (This tool is very useful)

WDFIST

The WDFIST tool allows to assign images to Wikidata items. Any Wikidata item that is used in an Infobox can possibly automatically show the image, depending on the language infobox logic.

File Candidates

FileCandidates has pre-compiled lists of potential images on Commons (as well as free images on Flickr that can be transferred to Commons) for Wikidata items. A Commons image found for a Wikidata item can then be used on the corresponding Wikipedia article.

WikiShootMe

WikiShootMe shows Wikidata items, marked as with and without image, Wikipedia articles, Commons images, and others on a map. Ideal if you are physically in a location and want to see what objects around you need an image on Wikipedia and Wikidata. The Commons mobile app also shows nearby articles needing a picture.
