The UAE User Group started with a goal, back when we were Kateb Maktub, of bridging the gap in Wikipedia's representation of Arab authors and with each new participant, articles started piling up, some became more credible, others were enriched in resources and were interconnected with other articles. So, we urge youto start, however you think possible. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps close cultural and historical gaps by giving others access to free information.
The Wikimedia Foundation collaborates with volunteer communities and partners to enable the use of Wikimedia projects for free global learning and the sharing of cultural heritage. It also conducts research around knowledge gaps. Without this volunteer-based community these achievements wouldn’t have been possible. Join us by contributing your skills and expertise to further remove all barriers that stand against free knowledge for all.

On Wikipedia, students and learners have the opportunity to master crucial 21st century skills, the majority of which will be applied in their professional and personal life. Students are taught how to use and contribute to Wikipedia in an academic setting, where they will learn how to utilize and contribute to Wikipedia, which is a useful public resource. Wikipedia provides you with an opportunity to significantly influence public knowledge.

Wikimedia Foundation Projects
Since its founding in 2001, Wikipedia has developed into a valuable and cherished knowledge source for billions of people all over the world. Its expansion, which now includes over 55 million articles, has been sparked by a large global volunteer force and contributors who visit and explore the website. The Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit organization that runs Wikipedia, works to ensure that the website remains accurate and ad-free while supporting the open-source knowledge infrastructure that enables the site's 18 billion monthly visits. The foundation is supported by contributions from readers all over the world.
The Wikimedia Foundation does not stop there. It also supports hundreds of thousands of people around the world in creating the largest free knowledge projects in history. The work of volunteers helps millions of people around the globe discover information, contribute knowledge, and share it with others no matter their bandwidth. For example, Women in Red, Art+Feminism, WikiGap, Wiki Loves Women, and #VisibleWikiWomen work to strengthen coverage by and about women on Wikimedia projects, often with an emphasis on women who are Black, Indigenous, or people of color. The impact is real: For example, since Wiki Loves Africa started in 2014, over 72,000 images have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons; they have been seen 787 million times.
These groups are just some of many working to develop and enrich the Wikimedia ecosystem and We as a user group aspire to achieve these kinds of milestones in the Arab region.
