Proposed scope of Wikimedia user group: (What is the planned purpose, scope, vision, or mission of this Wikimedia user group?)
- This group aims to structure the many ad-hoc activities happening already, empowering all MediaWiki community members. We also aim to become a reference for edit-a-thon events already happening at UNC, Duke, and throughout The Triangle.

- More than 30 members have participated in recent edit-a-thons.

- We currently focus on organizing Wikipedia edit-a-thons at UNC, Duke, and throughout the region.

- We are within the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. This includes Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and the surrounding towns.
- 1d. Do you have any highly active or prominent (on local or international level) Wikimedians / Wikipedians? If so, please name a few. (provide user names and wiki of origin)
- Kayz911 and Frankcjones are former Regional Coordinators with the Education Outreach Program. Additionally, Sodapopinski7 is the librarian at UNC who organized edit-a-thons there for the past three years.
- 1e. How many people do you expect will eventually want to join?
- Our edit-a-thon events brought in more than 30 new members this year, next year will be bigger.
2. For the application and final agreement we will require two contact persons that can sign the Wikimedia User Group Agreement on behalf of the group. Who will those be? 3. Please give a short summary of your time path from the founding up to now.
- In 2013, Sodapopinski7 organized the first edit-a-thon at UNC and Frankcjones was in attendance as a representative of the Wikipedia Education Outreach Program. Since then, the edit-a-thons at UNC have grown and branched out to draw larger numbers from the student body and wider community. This year, our region organized six edit-a-thon events and we plan to do more next year.
4. Which geographical area and context do you cover (or plan to cover) with your entity?
- We are within the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. This includes Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and the surrounding towns.

- Yes, there have been several edit-a-thons over the years.
