Strategy week-end

The Strategy week-end took place during the week-end of 4 and 5 August 2012 with 14 attendees.

On Saturday was discussed the identity (forces, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) and the mission of the association, and particularly the views between an association centered on the projects and another one where the action would be the free knowledge in general. The debate was also about the functioning of the association, specifically its organisation with working groups, their structure and their autonomy. There were also digressions about the vision of the actions efficiency and motivations in joining the association.

On Sunday was discussed the general functioning of the association, in particular the different types of desired internal and external communication. On Sunday afternoon, the expected actions were discussed and prioritized depending of strategic orientations, based on the Wikimedia Foundation's strategic planning.

Generally, when many opinions came up, they were written down in order to submit the various options to the next General Assembly.

Media exposure

On August 28, a member was interviewed by the local newspaper Paris Normandie before a Wikipermanence planned in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) on Saturday, September 15.

Actions of the working groups

Microfunding

The microfunding committee agreed to partially cover the making of camera straps in Wikimedia's colors.

GLAM

On August 23, M0tty and Adrienne spent a whole day at the Mundaneum in Mons (Belgium) to prepare an exhibition using links to Wikipedia with QRpedia. The day was splitted in different periods: first a general presentation of Wikimedia projects, GLAM projects and free licences that was attended by the staff of the museum; then an editing training. The afternoon was spent working on the QRpedia project with the Head of Communication of the museum and on a part of the exhibition that will be devoted to Wikipedia with the Commissionner of the exhibition.

See the part « editing » of the project on Wikipedia.
