Reunión con Agencia UNO

Resumen/reporte:
Eduardo Testart, Juan David Ruiz, Marco Correa y Dennis Tobar se reunieron con Sebastián de la Carrera Latorre, Director Comercial de Agencia UNO. Ésta expuso la posibilidad de ofrecer su banco de imágenes para su utilización en los proyectos Wikimedia, ante ello se le explicaron los requerimientos y alcances en materia de derechos de autor, por lo que ésta analizará la posibilidad de realizar alguna donación de imágenes.

Se realizó una charla a alumnos de la clase de Periodismo Digital del Instituto de la Comunicación e Imagen de la Universidad de Chile, dirigidos por la profesora Patricia Peña. La charla fue sobre Wikipedia, la Fundación Wikimedia, y los tópicos que relacionan a los proyectos Wikimedia con el periodismo.
Lanzamiento Proyecto Discursos Oficiales de Salvador Allende

Se procedió al lanzamiento on-line del proyecto "Discursos Oficiales de Salvador Allende", desarrollado por WMCL en colaboración con la Fundación Salvador Allende, que consiste en la digitalización y transcripción digital en Wikisource de una selección de 10 discursos del expresidente chileno Salvador Allende.

Eduardo Testart, Daniel Bravo y Juan David Ruiz, respondieron una carta al director del diario El Mercurio de Santiago, publicada el día anterior, en la cual se deslizaban críticas a Wikipedia, debido a problemas derivados del desconocimiento sobre el funcionamiento y las políticas que posee dicho proyecto.

GLAM-Wiki 2013

Resumen/reporte:
Wikimedia Reino Unido (WMUK) organizó una conferencia sobre iniciativas GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums o, en español, Galerías, Bibliotecas, Archivos y Museos), esto es, sobre actividades de colaboración entre instituciones GLAM y el movimiento Wikimedia.
Los tres ejes temáticos de la conferencia: (1) La forma de incentivar a instituciones a compartir su contenido de manera libre; (2) La forma de incentivar a instituciones a compartir sus imágenes en la mejor resolución posible, y; (3) La necesidad de implementar y mantener un equipo GLAM en los capítulos e instituciones.
Durante el primer día se asistió a diversas ponencias y talleres, destacando la experiencia del Museo Nacional de Ámsterdam con la liberación de obras en dominio público. También se conoció la colaboración entre Wikimedia y Europeana, una biblioteca digital de contenidos libres provenientes de diversas instituciones europeas.

Wikimedia Conference 2013

Resumen/reporte:
La conferencia anual de capítulos Wikimedia, donde se reúnen representantes de capítulos de todo el mundo, fue organizada el año 2013 por Wikimedia Italia.
Durante el primer día se realiza una actividad para romper el hielo entre los asistentes, a continuación, representantes de los capítulos dieron a conocer el estado de sus capítulos; entre ellos, le correspondió a Eduardo Testart, con el apoyo de Marco Correa, exponer sobre WMCL el primer día (ya que esta actividad se extendió hasta el tercer día). Durante el almuerzo se sostiene una reunión con los miembros de Iberocoop, en la que se tratan diversos temas, y posteriormente se da paso a sesiones paralelas (en salas más pequeñas) en que se trataron diversos temas de interés para los capítulos.
El segundo día, tras la segunda parte de las exposiciones sobre el estado de los capítulos, nuevamente se da paso a sesiones paralelas en que se trataron diversos temas de interés para los capítulos. A continuación, hubo una reunión entre la Junta Directiva de la Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) y los capítulos, donde se respondieron preguntas hechas por los capítulos, para continuar con las sesiones paralelas.
El tercer día de la conferencia, se concluyeron las exposiciones sobre el estado de los capítulos, se dio lugar a la última sesión paralela y, a continuación, se realizó el plenario de cierre de la conferencia. Más información: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Conference_2013.

Se llevó a efecto la segunda asamblea general ordinaria de socios de WMCL. En la asamblea se dio cuenta de las actividades y del estado financiero de la Corporación, como también de la solicitud de subvención a la Fundación Wikimedia para el período 2013-2014, se discutió sobre los proyectos de la Corporación para el año 2013 y el primer semestre de 2014 y sobre las comisiones de trabajo, entre otros. Asistieron 16 socios activos.
Asamblea General Extraordinaria de Wikimedia Chile

Se llevó a efecto la primera asamblea general extraordinaria de socios de WMCL. En la asamblea se debatió extensamente acerca de la incorporación de la Corporación a la Wikimedia Chapter Association (WCA), que era el único tema de la convocatoria.

Eduardo Testart, Juan David Ruiz, Marco Correa and Dennis Tobar met with Sebastián de la Carrera Latorre, Comercial Director of Agencia UNO, a Chilean press agency. At the meeting Agencia Uno opened the posibility of offering their image database for use in Wikimedia Projects. In relation to this, the Wikimedia Chile representatives explained the requirements and reach of copyright rules in this case. At the close of the meeting, Agencia Uno expressed the need to further investigate this issue in order to analyze a possible donation of photos.

A talk was given to the students from the class of Digital Journalism from the Communication and Image Institute from University of Chile, led by Professor Patricia Peña. The talk was about Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation, and the topics that connect the Wikimedia projects to journalism.
Launching of the Project Official Speeches of Salvador Allende

The project "Official Speeches of Salvador Allende" was launched on-line launching. Developed by WMCL in collaboration with the Salvador Allende Foundation, consists in the digitization and digital transcription into Wikisource from a selection of 10 speeches from the ex-president of Chile, Salvador Allende.

GLAM-Wiki 2013

Summary/report:
Wikimedia United Kingdom (WMUK) organized a conference about GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) initiatives, this is, about collaboration activities between GLAM institutions and the Wikimedia movement.
The three themes of the conference were: (1) How to encourage institutions to share their content freely, (2) How to encourage institutions to share their images in the highest resolution possible, and (3) The necesity to create and maintain a GLAM team within the chapters and institutions.
During the first day the representative attended to various presentations and workshops, highlighting the experience of the National Museum of Amsterdam with the release of public domain works. Also, the collaboration between Wikimedia and Europeana, a digital library of free content from various European institutions was also acknowledged.

Wikimedia Conference 2013

Summary/report:
The Wikimedia Chapters anual conference, where representatives of the chapter from all over the world gather, it was organized in the year 2013 by Wikimeia Italy.
During the first day an activity is performed to break the ice between attendees, after that, representatives of the chapters presented the state of the chapters, among them, corresponded to Eduardo Testart, supported by Marco Correa, to present about WMCL on the first day (since this activity lasted until the third day). Over lunch a meeting is held among members of Iberocoop, in which various topics are adressed, and after that, parallel track sessions start (in smaller rooms) in which various topics of interest to the chapters were treated.
The second day, after the second part of the presentations on the state of the chapters, again gives way to parallel track sessions in which various topics of interest to the chapters were discussed. After this, a meeting was held between the Board of Directors of the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) and chapters, where questions made by the chapters were answered, to continue afterwards with the parallel track sessions.

The second annual general assembly of members WMCL was held. In the assembly it was given account of the activities and financial state of the Corporation, as well as the grant application to the Wikimedia Foundation for the period 2013-2014, it was discussed the projects of the Corporation for 2013 and the first semester of 2014, and the working committees, among other topics. Sixteen active members attended.
