in a nutshell: For the first time Wikimedia Austria awarded the Austrian Award for Free Knowledge. The Association Open Knowledge Maps was awarded the price in the category for active citizenship for free knowledge. Institution of the year 2020 is the FWF Wissenschaftsfond (science fond) and Prof. Hermann Maurer was awarded with the special category for his life time achievements. The ceremony was part of the Vienna Ball of Sciences on January 25th at the Vienna City Hall. The awards were handed out by Vienna's mayor and governor Michael Ludwig and the Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology Leonore Gewessler.
