History

[edit]

Taiwan International Festival of Arts (TIFA) is held annually every spring. Since 2009, it has presented more than 200 classic and new programs, local and international, that have been enjoyed by over 1 million people. It is one of Asia’s most iconic arts festivals.[1]

TIFA is an showcase of new works from both emerging and established Taiwanese performers. It has grown to become one of the largest and most iconic arts festivals in Asia. Just as Taiwan sits in a pivotal position in Asia, TIFA plays a pivotal role in the region’s performing arts ecology by presenting well-established works and performing groups from Taiwan and abroad. The festival’s emphasis on bold, experimental programs has garnered a wide following among audiences and performers alike.[2][3]

TIFA also has an important role in introducing new and emerging artists, often with unique voices, as they build their unique cultural brands. Furthermore, the festival provides a major opportunity for Taiwan's performing artists and groups to shine internationally, and for international groups to enter the Asian market.[4]
